Jordan's largest applied research institution boosts IT effectiveness with HP Converged Cloud
AMMAN, Jordan, May 23, 2013 -- HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) has today launched the new National Software Quality Assurance Centre. This innovative new facility located at the RSS is the region's first comprehensive software quality assurance and testing centre.
The new Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure based on Hewlett Packard's Converged Cloud solution technology, providing highly-scalable cloud-based services. The Centre provides quality-assured testing services and setups to clients prior to going live.
"This centre was born out of a vision to provide a beacon of excellence and innovation in software testing and quality assurance services across the region," said Princess Sumaya, President of RSS, in a speech at the opening ceremony. "For this reason, we are delighted to work in collaboration with HP to ensure the highest quality service and to contribute even more to enable national capacity building efforts and regional professional development in this key technological domain."
HRH Princess Sumaya also emphasized the importance of the combined efforts of the various parties which supported this great undertaking including: The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, as well as intaj, and the Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
It is worth noting that the RSS is supported by more than 500 science specialists, researchers, and technical support, management and faculty staff and is the largest applied research institution, consultancy, and technical support service provider in Jordan. With nationally and internationally accredited laboratories, the Society is a hub for local, regional and global research and development and has always been at the forefront of technology and is a market-maker when it comes to ICT related activities; from the introduction of Jordan's first computer decades ago, to launching these cutting-edge ICT related services today.
Commenting on the new initiative, Eyad Shihabi, Managing Director, HP Middle East, said the Centre would greatly boost IT effectiveness for client organisations across the region: "Organisations depend on applications to perform business-critical functions and drive competitive advantage, but outdated tools and complex methodologies create barriers to delivering reliable, enterprise-class applications on-time. With HP's application testing solutions, the RSS has been able to accelerate high-quality application delivery."
The new facility will greatly enhance the range and depth of servives that RSS can offer to its IT clients: "We wanted to offer a software lifecycle management service that would enable a wide variety of organisations across the region to test their software systems before they go-live," said Dr. Nabeel Fayoumi , VP for Testing, Quality and ICT at RSS. "This will enable our clients to avoid operational errors and reduce development costs while providing sufficient revenues to assure the sustainability & continued development of the centre".
Commenting on its choice to partner with HP, Dr. Nabeel added that not only was the HP solution the most technically advanced, but HP was the only vendor able to provide RSS with a turn-key hardware and software solution from a single source.
A complete IT quality management solution running on HP Converged Cloud with HP Quality Center and HP LoadRunner software now enables RSS to deliver quality-assured testing services from its data center in Amman. By identifying and eliminating any possible weaknesses in its clients' software systems, RSS can help to ensure that they run efficiently and cost-effectively before they go live.
As part of HP's application testing suite, HP LoadRunner load and performance tests enable RSS to identify and eliminate any possible weaknesses in core functions. The industry standard for application performance testing, HP Loadrunner helps prevent issues by detecting bottlenecks to obtain an accurate picture of end-to-end system performance. It enables faster time to value and a predictable, lower cost model while reducing the resources required to manage and maintain the solution.
HP Quality Center on SaaS software provides RSS with a comprehensive quality assurance solution to consolidate test assets and develop end-to-end quality processes. Automated reporting saves the IT team from the labour-intensive routine work of data collection, making the whole testing process manageable and efficient Modules for requirements, release cycle, test plan, test lab and defects management as well as dashboard reporting are seamlessly integrated to allow the smooth flow of information across all testing stages.
An HP CloudSystem comprising HP ProLiant server blades and HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage with HP Matrix Operating Environment for rapid IT infrastructure provisioning. HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage has boosted the RSS's data storage performance and availability while reducing energy usage. Tiered storage ensures that the most active data is rapidly accessible while data used less often is automatically moved to lower, less expensive tiers.
