Freedom Town, Kuwait - December 27, 2010 - Award winning airline Jazeera Airways today announced the implementation of 3D secure credit card authentication, a new state-of-the art payment authentication process by Visa and MasterCard that adds an extra element of security to bookings made on jazeeraairways.com by tying the financial authorization code for additional online authentication at the time of the transaction.
Jazeeraairways.com is one of the largest e-commerce websites in the Middle East, generating approximately USD 80 million in 2009.
Customers booking on jazeeraairways.com with chip-based credit cards will benefit from this added security measure immediately. Jazeera Airways customers that don't have the new chip-based credit cards will experience no change in their booking process and will continue to benefit from the existing security measures in place until their issuing bank implements 3D secure.
Most leading banks in the Middle East and across the world have either changed to 3D secure or are in the process of changing to 3D secure.
The new authentication system, 3D secure, is now being used world-wide by global airlines, hotels and online retailers to help reduce fraudulent transactions and bring more peace of mind to online customers through a cutting-edge process.
This authentication is based on a three domain model (the 3D given name). Once a user has successfully registered with card issuing bank, a password is generated to be used as an extra layer of security designed specifically for online transactions. The password is verified with both the credit card company and the bank that issued the credit card at the time of the transaction instantly and in real-time.
Winner of Arabian Business Magazine's 'Best in Aviation 2010' award and Gold Winner of Magnum Opus 2010 awards, Jazeera Airways operates to 17 destinations across the Middle East and North Africa during the winter season of 2010/2011.
