Malaysian students to train in 'premium family-based' hospitality in Dubai

14 graduates complete first training at Jawhara Hotels

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Al Jawhara group of Hotels and Apartments and Lootah Technical Centre (LTC), a competency based education and training centre, both part of the S.S. Lootah Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia's premier institution of higher learning to provide premium family-based hospitality training.

The signing ceremony took place at LTC where Mr. Abdulmunam Lootah, CEO-LTC and Dato' Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, Vice Chancellor and CEO of UiTM, signed the MoU in the presence of Mr. Syed Mohd Hasrin Aidid, Consul General of Malaysia in the UAE and Mr. Nasser Saeed Lootah, Member of the Board of the S.S. Lootah Group.

The MoU follows the successful completion of the three-month management training of 14 UiTM graduates where on-site practical training was provided by Jawhara and academic consultancy by LTC which hosts a specialised hospitality training centre in Dubai.

"As a pioneer in premium family based true Emirates hospitality, we are happy to share Jawhara's three-decade expertise with the world. Through such partnerships, we hope to strengthen Dubai's position as a leader in the sector and will continue to set benchmarking trends through innovative service offerings", commented Mr. Nasser Lootah.

Emphasizing the vital importance of interacting with industrial partners, Dato' Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, Vice Chancellor and CEO of UiTM said, "This partnership offers unique opportunities for knowledge sharing in areas of strategic importance such as premium family based hospitality which is fast expanding in Malaysia. We hope to collaborate in areas such as training activities for students, sharing of expertise, facilities and information, workshops, seminars, research projects, developing marketing strategies and market analysis by academic experts in hospitality and tourism."

Jawhara has had a long association with Malaysia.  An MoU was signed earlier with the Malaysian Embassy to host official delegations visiting Dubai.

About Jawhara Hotels
The Jawhara brand was born in 1979 when Haj Saeed Lootah established the first family hotel in Dubai that offered its services within the guidelines of the United Arab Emirates' rich culture of hospitality. With the phenomenal growth of tourism and the increasing number of visitors to Dubai, S.S. Lootah Group invested in the hospitality industry, creating the first "Shariah-compliant Hospitality" hotel chain brand "Jawhara". The Jawhara group of hotels has a growing portfolio of two hotels - 'Gardens' and 'Metro' as well as Al Jawhara Hotel Apartments, offering more than 300 hotel rooms, suites and furnished apartments. Jawhara also introduced "Pure room" for the first time in the gulf. The "Pure rooms" are called so after being certified by the American company 'Pure Solutions', a leader in this area that utilizes an innovative, one-of-a-kind process for maintenance of the rooms.
