Preparations are in full swing to host the first Drink expo ever specialized in Beverage technology, Liquid Food and Mineral Water in the Middle East and North Africa Region, The Dubai Drink Technology Expo is scheduled on 14 - 16 December 2008, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Zaabeel Hall.
This high profile exhibition presents worldwide range of products and services in the area of beverage technology and liquid food. Dubai Drink Technology Expo offers the state-of-the-art technology, logistics solutions, and raw materials for every type of beverage and liquid food for the entire industry, which constitutes a vital element to the consumers all over the world. The event will focus on promoting the latest drink processing and packaging systems, light machinery, equipment, technology, materials and services to brand owners, retailers, beverage service operators, manufacturers, processors and logistics services providers. The exhibition coincides with the remarkable development in the beverage and food industry in the Gulf, the Middle East and North Africa during this period of time. There is a growing increase in demand, resulting forthe increase in the standard of living and the growing health awareness among people. Indications of the non-alcoholic beverages and liquid food industry in the Jebel Ali Free Zone indicates that the number of the factories producing non-alcoholic beverages operating in the area is increasing, as there are 115 production facilities distributing their products in the country, the gulf region and worldwide.
Beverages drinks and liquid food industry set up in Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, saw remarkable growth in recent years in terms of supply and demand. The number of beverages establishments in JAFZA reached 115 establishments. The vertical and horizontal expansion of Drinks and liquid food manufacturing and processing industry in the JAFZA is influenced by the progressive demand in the region and internationally and by the rise in the population, standard of living and the increase in health consciousness.

Saudi Arabia is considered one of the largest and most important markets in the gulf for producing soft drinks and juices, as it is the only state in the gulf region that is self-sufficient from domestic production. The Saudi national industries are now capable of meeting local market needs.
The amount of money invested in 90 factories of soft drinks, juices and bottled water reached 3.9 billion riyals (1.04 billion dollars) early this century and a total production capacity reached nearly 7.2 billion liters. And the volume of investment in soft drinks factories in Saudi Arabia at the end of 2001 reached nearly 2.1 billion riyals (560 million dollars). The juice factories investment in packaging and distribution sectors reached 919 million riyals (245.07 million dollars). And finally the bottled water sector investments hits 877.5 million riyals (234 million dollars). While Direct foreign investment in manufacturing soft drinks reached 23 million riyals and is derived entirely from the United States.
