In a joint effort with Saudi Business Machines Ltd. (SBM)

Jubail. 31 January 2005 - The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu recently completed the installation of a robust and high speed Community Communication Network based on IBM systems, CISCO Networking systems and other complementing IT solutions.

"We are now positioned for the planned Business and IT growth for the Royal Commission here in Jubail" stated IT Department Director, Mr. Abudullah M. Gahtani.

SBM, the general marketing and services representative of IBM in Saudi Arabia, announced today the completion of a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure that will give the Royal Commission in Jubail the ability to deploy the latest enterprise resource planning (SAFEER ERP Project) technology, that is a high speed converged and secure network infrastructure, with Multimedia Internet Connectivity, Comprehensive and a Scalable Network, Robust End to End Network Management Systems and the one of the largest Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) in the region.

Jef Geagan (Project Manager) stated; "The team here in the Royal Commission has worked tirelessly with SBM to meet the demanding schedule. In the end, we have accomplished amazing things in a very short time. The RC network infrastructure is now poised and ready for the future. This project indicates the level of commitment and support that the RC has in meeting the challenges ahead."

This major technology success is complemented with the construction of a new state of the art IT data Center to accommodate all existing RC systems, new IBM systems, Cisco Network Core Systems, Server Farms, Controlled UPS's, and the backbone of Royal Commission Network Infrastructure. The effort included the full replacement of all cabling, network systems and devices throughout the RC Jubail main building, as well as a comprehensive network throughout the city, comprised of the latest technologies including fiber, wireless, leased line and dial-up, and Network Operating Center (NOC) management and monitoring tools. Additional services included the installation and commissioning of the Royal Commission Mission Information Conference Hall with the latest technology in Audio/Video Projection System and providing high technical training for the Computer Engineers of the Royal Commission.

With the full support of the Royal Commission IT staff, SBM enlisted all its skilled resources to make this project a success and was able to implement the projects various efforts in record time, while minimizing any negative impact to the customers operations.

SBM was awarded this project in August 2003 and completed in June 2004.
