The two programs provide real-life skills to university students and empower them to have effective roles in the national economy
Kuwait, 17 December, 2012: INJAZ-Kuwait, the Kuwait-chapter of the global youth empowerment NGO Junior Achievement (JA), partnered this month with Yusuf A. Alghanim & Sons -Automotive Group to run two educational programs, "iCamp" and "Job Shadow", which aim to provide students with real-life business knowledge and skills.
The two educational programs were tailor-made for students at the Australian College of Kuwait (ACK), and hosted and led by industry leader, Alghanim Automotive. The programs prepare students for the workforce, with sessions on entrepreneurship and financial literacy, analysis and brainstorming skills, as well as individual and group thinking activities.
INJAZ-Kuwait's CEO, Mrs. Rana Al-Nibari, said, "This is a very unique and exciting opportunity for college students that has been made possible with the support of Alghanim Automotive. We thank Alghanim Automotive for the time invested and the knowledge they have shared to help us achieve our programs' goals. We look forward to continued cooperation with Kuwait's leading companies to empower more students in the future."
INJAZ's recent partnership with Alghanim Automotive is one of a series of collaborations between INJAZ and leading companies in Kuwait, which are all designed to help prepare Kuwait's young adults for the working world.
The "iCamp" Program
The "iCamp" program is a six-hour intensive workshop that focuses on expanding students' critical thinking and teamwork skills. During "iCamp", students were required to develop an innovative solution to a real-life business challenge, within six hours.
Eighty students from ACK took part in the "iCamp" program. 12 volunteers from Alghanim Automotive guided the students as they devised solutions to a real-life business challenge. At the end of the day, the solutions developed by students were evaluated by a panel of five judges, and the top three winning teams were announced.
The first place winning team received a plaque from INJAZ-Kuwait and Alghanim Automotive, in addition to KD150 worth of gifts from Alghanim Automotive.
The "Job Shadow" Program
The "Job Shadow" program provides students with intensive training in analyzing and interpreting information, brainstorming solutions and innovative ideas, critical thinking, goal-setting, oral and written communication, public speaking, self-assessment and working in a group.
The program, hosted by Alghanim Automotive, took place two weeks after I-Camp, and involved forty students visiting the company's offices. Employees from Alghanim Automotive spent the day with the students, introducing them to the inner-workings of the business. As part of their visit, the students visited the Chevrolet and Cadillac Service Centers, Bumper to Bumper, the KromOzone Boutique and lastly, the Historical Vintage and Classical Car Museum.
