Info2cell.com, the leading Wireless Applications Service Provider (WASP) in the Middle East and North Africa, has expanded its SMS news services for the UAE subscribers with the introduction of nine new channels, besides the already existing SMS Breaking News Channel. The new channels were introduced as part of ambitious new plans to triple the existing subscriber base of Info2cell.com from 30,000 to 100,000 in the UAE by May 2005.
The list of new channels includes SMS Jokes; SMS Entertainment Headlines; SMS Horoscopes, SMS Dubai Time Out; SMS Abu Dhabi Time Out; SMS Women; SMS Sports Headlines; SMS News Headlines; SMS Business and Finance Headlines. The SMS Women channel has sections on Fashion, Beauty and Health. The new channels, available in English and Arabic, are already open for subscription in the UAE by calling 8004480.
"Info2cell.com has always been a pioneer in introducing innovative services to its mobile phone subscribers. When we introduced the SMS Breaking News service in the region, it was an instant hit, because it brought news to the subscriber much faster than any other media source," said Bashar Dahabra, Founder and General Manager of Info2cell.com. "Since then, there has been constant and ever-increasing demand from our subscribers that we expand and enrich our SMS offerings to cover a comprehensive set of news segments. The new channels will not only satisfy this demand, but will also add value to Alwan, our mobile magazine concept introduced recently in the GCC."
"The Telecommunications sector in the GCC region, especially in the UAE is evolving rapidly, both in terms of technology and market structure. The recent move of the UAE government announcing the deregulation of the sector will hot-up the competition amongst service providers to capture a share of the subscriber base," explained Dahabra. "Excellence in technology and services provided will be the only way forward in a market, where the consumer is increasingly aware of global telecommunication trends and will not settle for anything less than the best."
"In the UAE, Etisalat has already set the trend of excellence in telecommunications; which is why the organisation has welcomed the news of deregulation. If we look back over the past couple of decades, we will find that Etisalat has always been a trendsetter, being the first to introduce many new technologies and services to its subscribers. Etisalat has also proven itself to be one of most user-friendly of public organisations anywhere in the world. As the most efficient and forward thinking of service providers in the Middle East, it will be difficult for competitors to match Etisalat's record," said Dahabra.
"Info2cell.com is motivated by the same vision of excellence and innovation. As a consumer-oriented organisation, our constant effort has been to develop value-added services that will enhance the usefulness of a mobile phone for its user. The introduction of our nine new channels is an important step towards meeting our objectives," he concluded.
