Doha, Qatar: Qatar Expo successfully hosted the International Furniture & Design Exhibition, Conference and Awards (INFDEX) with many exhibitors from local and international markets expressing their high level of satisfaction for the event with many booking their participation for the following year.

The event took place from 18th to 21st May 2008, boasting more than 100 exhibitors representing 14 countries. This year's event was complemented by a high-profile 2-day conference and an Awards Ceremony.  

With regard to the Awards element of this event and more importantly on the award presented to the "Best Young Designer", INFDEX 2008 in collaboration with Qatari Diar, who was this year's host sponsor, together with Oikos and Warde, representing support sponsors, recognized and acknowledged the high quality of creativity and innovation submitted by the nominated students.

The winners of the Young Designers Award received special prizes from ID design, Tivoli Furniture, Homes R Us and Oikos.

In recognition of exhibitors, their edgy, captivating and attractive stands were given due recognition by a special body of jurors with Pergola Design being awarded as the "Best Innovative Stand" this award was sponsored by Virginia Commonwealth University.  The "Best Environmental Stand" Award was received by Bradran and this was sponsored by Qatar Today and finally, the "Best Use of  Space Designed Stand" Award was granted to Al Aquili Furnishings.

The INFDEX Awards introduced a more interactive and dynamic element to the event offering one of the best places to showcase the latest products and designs in the local market and region.

Mr.  Esmat  Selim, Managing Director of  Qatar Expo commented, "Following the  success of  seven annual exhibitions, the number of  INFDEX exhibitors have tripled compared to last year and the number of  countries that participated have doubled .Compiled reports and feedback obtained also indicated that INFDEX was rated a successful show for exhibitors and visitors alike. Participants expressed their satisfaction in terms of the quality and design of each exhibition stand and praised the professionalism of the exhibitors and their eagerness to do business. Hence, INFDEX is truly a business gateway for exhibitors to enter the market in the Gulf Region"

A large number of exhibitors also praised INFDEX 2008 for the creativity and high number of participants which has supported exhibitors in entering new markets.

AL DAICEL expressed their happiness with the results of INFDEX as is already working with interested corporations. "The presence of such variety of companies  in the field of Design and Furniture, Real Estate Developers, Design Enthusiast, Entrepreneurs, Interior Designers and Hotel Personnel, gives us more options in signing contracts and new deals.".

SAGSA praised INFDEX 2008 as a potential avenue for entering the Qatar market "INFDEX 2008 is the ideal place to start promoting ourselves here in the local market and in the region. With all those visitors and huge exhibitors, we can easily promote ourselves in such a short time".

IN CONCEPT stated "This year the visitors showed more interest in the product leaving the exhibitor with high expectations for good business. We are very delighted to be one of INFDEX 2008 exhibitors and we are not going to miss next year's exhibition as well".

INFDEX 2008 is the first in the market to showcase creativity and innovation from world-class exhibitors which focus on excellence and uniqueness in their craft. A good mix of delegates from different sectors of Furniture and Design Industry, Interior Design students, Real Estate Developers, Design Enthusiast, Entrepreneurs, Interior Designers and Hotel Personnel attended the 2-day Conference at the Doha Exhibition Center which ran alongside the exhibition.
