Four new wards considerably improving healthcare services

In line with the aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the President of United Arab Emirates to create and maintain an integrated and comprehensive health system and to keep abreast with the rapid development, which the United Arab Emirates is undergoing across all sectors of society, particularly in the health sector, and based on the instructions and guidance of General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander UAE Armed Forces, the General Authority for Health Services for the Emirates of Abu Dhabi has fundamentally upgraded and refurbished four wards at Al-Ain Hospital.

The re-location of the surgical, pediatrics, and internal medicine departments has now been completed. The new wards now fully meet the facility standards introduced by the General Authority for Health Services for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (GAHS) last year.

With today's inauguration, the hospital now has an in-patient capacity of 425 beds. This will help to better cope with the 250,000 patients treated there annually, including more than 18,500 inpatients.

Dr. Ahmad Al Mubarak Al Mazroui, Chairman and CEO of the General Authority for Health Services in Abu Dhabi stated that the comprehensive upgrading of this building has included re-designing the building in a modern architectural style to meet international specifications. A new feature of the building is the inclusion of six private suites.

The private rooms will ensure a higher degree of privacy and comfort for patients needing hospitalisation. Other features include new medical, curative, and preventative infrastructure as well as  entertainment technology available in all patient rooms.

All technical and administrative services have been transferred to the reception patio facilitating and simplifying admission and discharge procedures for the patients, thus providing more comfort and quality services.

The new rooms of the hospital reflect a qualitative step-change in the  services offered at Al Ain Hospital. Simultaneously, the number of beds in the Psychiatric Department has been doubled. The number of urgent care beds was increased to 32 and 24 beds have been allocated to the treatment of patients with infectious diseases. The Physiotherapy Center has also been added for in-patients as well as out-patients.
