Ideal Standard awarded for its contribution to the iconic initiative
Ideal Standard, Europe's leading bathroom specialist, has set new benchmarks in excellence in Baytna - Qatar's first Passive House project which was unveiled recently. The company has been awarded for its contribution and world-class expertise on water efficiency and energy consumption to the iconic project - the country's first energy-efficient house.
Developed by "Passivhaus Institute" in Germany, the Qatar Passive House concept is a set of performance standards and specific building construction strategies, including a super-insulated building envelope that minimizes heat loss by enhancing thermal performance. Passive House standards were developed in Germany during the 1990s and are now the fastest-growing energy performance standards in the world with 30,000 buildings realized to date.
Baytna has been designed with all the comforts of modern living while consuming at least 50% less energy, water and operational carbon dioxide emissions.
Through its contribution to the Baytna project, Ideal Standard has supported the country's efforts to highlight the benefits of environmentally friendly solutions in the most cost efficient way. The company has taken a major step forward in water and energy saving solutions, ensuring high quality performance of all its products with regards to their impact on Earth's resources.
The selected water & energy saving Ideal Standard products were the Connect & Playa wall hung bowl combined with the ECO W30, the built in tank with 3,0 /4,5lt dual flush function, the Connect Blue & Ceramix Blue with 5lt/min flow regulation in the basin mixers function, and the Idealrain shower accessories with 8lt/min flow regulators, combined with the Kubo shower enclosure and the Synergy bathtub screens.

Baytna was built at Barwa City in Mesaimeer, along with a conventional villa under a joint project launched by Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), Kahramaa and Barwa Real Estate Group (BRE). The villa used cement based plastered walls, acrylic based paint, ceramic flooring, electrical water heaters, standard lights, more cooling, potable water for flushing toilets, standard sanitary ware and one waste bin.
The project will be monitored for 2 years by Qatar Green Building Society Council and QSASGSAS.
