Online Project Management Courses Made Available to PM Community in Qatar

Doha, Qatar (10 November 2010):   The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) and Qatar Branch of Project Management Institute's Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI-AGC Qatar) are partnering to give project management professionals in Qatar access to free online Project Management courses through Qatar's National e-Leaning Portal. A special cluster of 30 courses in project management can now be accessed by PMI-AGC Qatar members to help them gain Professional Development Units (PDU) to maintain their Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or gain contact hours if they are planning to get certified.

Dr. Khalid Naji, President of PMI-AGC  Qatar branch said, "ictQATAR is well known for its mission of connecting people to technology, and I see the e-Learning Portal as an initiative that brings a prodigious knowledge base to the project management community in Qatar. The Qatar branch of the Arabian Gulf Chapter is delighted about this collaboration and I encourage all Chapter members to make use of this valuable asset."

The Qatar National e-Learning Portal is an innovative service dedicated to sharing knowledge to educate Qatar's people and strengthen commerce. The portal offers more than 2,500 free online courses in a variety of topics, including: business, technology, computer skills, human resources, marketing, personal development and management.

ictQATAR presented the e-Learning Portal and its course offerings to members of PMI-AGC Qatar at a recent Chapter event hosted by the College of the North Atlantic-Qatar. Members were taken through the easy registration process and shown how to take the online courses.

"We are pleased to work with Qatar's chapter of the Project Management Institute to bring these certified courses to Qatar's leading project managers. The Qatar National e-Learning Portal offers courses that will help our citizens advance their careers to benefit the entire country," said Reem Al-Mansoori, ictQATAR's Digital Inclusion Manager.

PMI is a not-for-profit organization that certifies project managers by teaching contemporary strategies and knowledge, and creating accreditation processes and examinations that develop expertise of project management professionals who are then able to transfer their knowledge and skills to practical applications within their industry. PMI has more than half a million members in 185 counties all over the world, and provides services to the local members through local chapters established and approved by the headquarters.
