Since its start in Bahrain in 1983, when the computer industry was still in its infancy, Zayani Computer Systems has always looked to the future. Their focus on the customer and quality service has proven to be the company's engine for growth. "The customer looks for reliability in a partner they can work with not only today, but many years down the road," said Faisal Zayani, the company's founder and CEO.

Zayani Computer Systems, an HP partner since 1985, helps its customers find practical solutions to their IT needs. It offers its customers, which include Batelco, the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, and Gulf Air, the entire line of HP products.

Batelco

When Batelco, the Bahrain Telecommunications Company, decided to update their IT infrastructure, they went to Zayani Computer Systems to do the job. For over ten years, Zayani has provided Batelco with HP systems. Most of Batelco's IT infrastructure, which includes over 50 high-end HP Unix servers for applications like SAP and Oracle, is supplied by Zayani Computer Systems. With this infrastructure, the company tracks its landline and mobile billing and, most recently, its Wi-Fi services. Zayani Computer Systems' customer care center also plays an important role with their clients, including Batelco. With 20 employees to provide over-the-phone support, sales support, as well as on-site technical support for the full range of HP products, there is always a certified staffer available to help answer any question or solve any problem.

Before HP, they had several vendors and several different architectures. Together with HP, they streamlined the system and empowered the smaller teams and end users.

"It has been very rewarding to watch the company grow and develop, and to be their partner all the way through. We are very proud of that," said Vivek Jaitpal, general manager of Zayani Computer Systems.

The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK)

The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait's objective was to update their online banking services and monitor them centrally with minimum intervention. At the same time, they aimed to launch a marketing campaign for a host of new banking services to stay ahead of the competition and sought a solution through which they could monitor the response of their online customers.

Zayani Computer Systems' solution for them was the HP OpenView suite of products. With HP OpenView, they could track their various systems such as ATMs (automatic teller machines), credit cards and teller systems, which helped them with their customer responses and support during online transactions. "Our competition was stiff: We were up against incumbent IBM and Computer Associates," emphasized Jaitpal. Zayani was able to prove that HP's OpenView-based solution was the right fit and met BBK's objectives. "In the end, the most important thing is for us to provide a valuable, well-developed solution. With HP, we are able to do that," added Zayani.

Gulf Air

Zayani Computer Systems develops solutions across all industries, including the commercial airline market for customers like Gulf Air. When the Bahrain-based airline needed to upgrade their systems, Zayani was there. Zayani Computer Systems showed the carrier the value HP adds when moving to a scaleable, single-platform system and approaching the solution with a long-term view. Another advantage was the partnership between Zayani Computer Systems and Oracle. This enhanced their solution, because Gulf Air already had Oracle applications in place.

"The consolidation of their servers was our focus. They really liked the idea that long-term, they would be investing in infrastructure which will be scalable, helping them to consolidate all applications under one platform," said Jaitpal.

Zayani's focus on partnership and the long-term is a success. "The customer should be able to trust us, to consider us a partner they can rely on, to consult us, and to see us as if we were a part of their company," noted Zayani.

Given their success thus far, the future looks even brighter for Zayani Computer Systems.
