Doha - 21 March 2011: Thirteen Physicians from Women's Hospital (WH) at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have successfully completed their Master's Program in Ultrasound Imaging from Zagreb Medical College in Croatia.
The graduation ceremony was held on 20th March at Hajar auditorium at Medical Education Center. The event also marked the culmination of a three year partnership between HMC and Zagreb Medical College during which time more than 40 physicians graduated, including many doctors from other GCC and Arab countries.
The Master's Program in Ultrasound Imaging is designed to train physicians on ultrasound imaging, gynecological diagnosis, fetal body measurements and fetal deformities resulting from specific diseases. Theoretical study was provided to students at Medical Education Center through intensive lectures delivered by a group of experienced professors from USA, France and Zagreb in Croatia. The practical study was provided at the hospital, under the direct supervision of HMC physicians.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Badr-Aldeen Ahmed, Sr. Consultant of Feto-maternal Unit at HMC said "Today we are celebrating the graduation of the third and last batch of our physicians who have been awarded a Master's Degree in Ultrasound Imaging as a fruit of the three years partnership agreement signed between HMC, Zagreb Medical College and Weil Cornel College of Medicine aiming at securing high quality education standards in Qatar".
Dr. Halima Al Tamimi, Chairperson of Obstetric and Gynecology Department at Women's Hospital in her address said "HMC feels proud of the successful partnerships made with a number of renowned world-class organizations. Hundreds of students and several graduates had benefited of these fruitful tie-ups throughout the past years."
She further added that the exchange of knowledge and expertise with these reputable partners have helped HMC to take huge strides in the field of developing competent and experienced medical staff.
Prof. Asim Koriak, from Zagreb Medical College, shared his past three years experience in Qatar by saying, "I am very proud of my rich experience at HMC and I believe that the corporation has a bright future ahead, particularly in view of the major projects to be commissioned shortly, such as Sidra Medical Center, the Cardiology Hospital and the new Children's Hospital".
The graduation ceremony was also attended by Dr. Abdullatif Al-Khal, Director of the Medical Education at HMC and Dr. Frank Chervenak, Head of Gynecology Section at Weil Cornel College of Medicine among many other dignitaries.
