Dubai World Hospitality Championship welcomed today His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, to the inaugural culinary extravaganza that seeks to promote the UAE as a strategic destination for hospitality and fine food.

During his visit, His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the Organizing Committee for organizing such a global event and its ability to attract such a large number of participants and visitors, especially Emiratis. His Highness praised the successful execution of the Heritage Village and its diverse activities that reflect the rich Emirati heritage and culture. His Highness explained that the championship's success to register three new innovations in the Guinness Book is a great achievement and a source of pride for the people of UAE.

The three-day event is witnessing more than 700 international and regional culinary professionals and connoisseurs competing for top honours and an aggregate of AED6 million in prize money. The feast of flavours is set to firmly position Dubai on the international culinary map and become part of the emirate's burgeoning calendar of must-attend social events. The prestigious championship offers a complete Emirati experience at a dedicated Heritage Village that displays the culture and traditions of UAE's timeless hospitality.

Organised by Za'abeel Palace Hospitality under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, DWHC will run until 18 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

About Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013:
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Zaabeel Palace Hospitality organises the Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013, an initiative that seeks to spotlight Dubai amongst the finest multicultural culinary destinations of the world.

In its first edition, the Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013 will take place from 16-18 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event comprise of three main competitions: The International Competition, The Emirati Competition and The Hospitality Sector Competition. The championship will witness12 globally renowned culinary masters, Emirati professional and amateur chefs and 700 chefs vying for top honours through showcasing their creativity, mastery and professionalism in crafting international and Emirati cuisine. More importantly, DWHC is the first and only event of its kind that highlights the rich and intricate traditions of Emirati cuisine and hospitality to the world.

Supported by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), the Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) and Dubai World Trade Centre, the debut edition of the championship will host a culinary museum and a model heritage village displaying traditional handmade products and offering popular Emirati food for sampling. The event will offer free access to the public.
