For its continued support to "Al Basmala" Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition
Dubai, 29 May 2009- H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture recently honored Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the Middle East in terms of assets and profitability. This came on the sidelines of the distinguished Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition entitled 'Al Basmalah' that was recently held in Dubai. The exhibition displayed an extensive collection of Arabic calligraphy featuring the work of several renowned artists. The ceremony was organized by the Dubai Arabic Calligraphy Centre.
Mr. Sulaiman Al Mazroui, General Manager, Corporate Communications at Emirates NBD received the award on behalf of Emirates NBD and said, "We are honoured to be recognised by HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Emirates NBD takes its role as a socially responsible corporation very seriously and is keen to support various initiatives and events that promote the UAE culture and Heritage. Al Basmalah exhibition helps create awareness about one of the most beautiful forms of Art in the Arab world, the Arabic Caligraphy."
The Al Basmalah Exhibition showcased several pieces created by 21 Arabic calligraphers from nine countries including Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Sudan and the US, with 6 pieces on display from the UAE.
