April 13, 2013 - Doha: Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF) for Education, Science and Community Development, witnessed a resounding success during its participation in Qatar Career Fair (QCF) 2013. Through its booth, workshops, and activities, HBKU engaged with Qatari youth and professionals, raising awareness of the university and the exciting future education and work opportunities available at one of Qatar's leading educational institutions.

"Our goal was to reach out to the community. We are delighted that we were able to reach so many individuals and we are counting on them to help us on our journey," said Dr. Khalid Al Khanji, VP of Student Affairs at HBKU. HBKU's workshops and activities offered guidance on best practices in career development and exploration, skill based practices in future planning, and university preparation. It also offered aspiring students the chance to speak with university graduates and professionals so that they could learn about the rewarding educational and career paths available to them in Qatar.

A large number of young Qataris expressed their interest in career opportunities at HBKU and all were encouraged to apply for employment, internship, and scholarship opportunities by completing an online application and submitting their CVs. Each day, a large number of applications were submitted and in the coming weeks the Human Resources Department at HBKU is committed to reviewing and evaluating all the applications received during Qatar Career Fair.

During Qatar Career Fair, H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Ph.D., President of HBKU, visited the university's booth and met with a number of promising high school students and university students from HBKU and its partner universities. Dr. Abdulla listened to various testimonials and asked about the students' interests, hopes and concerns. He also emphasized the important role the Qatari youth play in helping to drive Qatar's knowledge-based economy and meeting Qatar's National Vision 2030 through higher education.  Alumni from HBKU and it partner universities were also present and shared some lessons learned with the young visitors.

HBKU proudly announced the completion of its Arabic translation of the book "Career Guidance: A Handbook for Policy Makers," a publication produced by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This collaborative project reaffirms HBKU's commitment to supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030 through innovative projects that benefit the local community.
