An attempt to create the largest human awareness ribbon will wind its way into Guinness World Records
Over the weekend, an attempt to create the world's largest human awareness ribbon was held at the Emirates Golf Club, Dubai. This massive event drew together thousands, who joined hands to participate in building a human awareness ribbon while raising awareness amongst women on the issue of breast cancer.
Ms. Amreen Merchant, Director of Pure Gold Jewellers, and sponsor of the event, said "This awareness campaign come together to help fight against breast cancer. The goal of the event is to make a unified stand against a deadly disease, helping to raise awareness and hopefully encourage screening and early diagnosis. If we are able to break the Guinness World Record for this event, then it will be an added bonus to the day's activities."
As part of a larger breast cancer awareness campaign, the massive event drew people from all nationalities to attend, and fight against breast cancer. The event also contributed to the cause of disease education, with free health exams, well-being and beauty demonstrations, as well as the distribution of goodies, and family oriented entertainment.
Ms. Merchant continued, saying: "This breast cancer awareness campaign event will not only show our support for the women suffering from breast cancer, but is also oriented to help them prevent it. This is a social cause, and it shows the unity of the women in general. Pure Gold Jewellers is proud to be able to help facilitate this event, and hope that our activities can make a difference in someone's life."
The awareness event was sponsored by companies based around the world, out of which Mapochette.com and Estee Lauder were the main sponsors. Pure Gold Jewellers, in honor of breast cancer awareness, has recreated the breast cancer awareness ribbon in an 18k rose gold pendant, featuring 17 cent of diamonds and gold chain created for a price of AED 599. Created for awareness, a portion of all the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Friends of Cancer Society in Sharjah, where women can receive treatment, as well as information, regarding breast cancer. Pink t-shirts and Estee Lauder goodies were given out to all the women participating in the event.
Ms. Merchant concluded by saying: "We want thank everyone who participated in this event, and who helped us make a difference in the lives of those we love."
