Famed band to perform at the Global Theatre today
Bombay Vikings, the band that has had numerous number one hits on the Indian charts, will perform today at the Global Theatre of Global Village at 8:30 in the evening as part of Dubai Shopping Festival entertainment. The pop group will perform all the hits that made them one among the most successful bands in Indian music industry.
The Bombay Vikings were formed in 1994 in Sweden. The band consists of Neeraj, who is the lead vocalist and also the face of the band; Mats, who plays the saxophone; Johan Folke, the keyboardist; Morgan on the drums; Par on the bass; and Staffan, who is the lead guitarist.
Kya Surat Hai, Bombay Vikings' noted album remained on top of all charts for almost eleven months. The success gave the band the encouragement to release their next album Who Chali Who Chali that is reported to have sold 700,000 copies in India alone. Their third album, Hawa Mein Udati Jaaye, is a major success and is still selling in music stores today.
The Global Theatre, that will host the Bombay Vikings show, is an important venue for major shows and events and covers a sizeable area of 8,300 square metres, while the stage occupies 1000 square metres. The venue can accommodate 3000 people seated in addition to standing space provided for another 3000 spectators.
