Dubai, UAE: – October and November is Dubai’s fashion season, with Arab Fashion Week’s kick-off shows and the comeback of Dubai Fashion Forward later in October, will definitely bring plenty of avant-garde looks and couture fashion that most of us can only dream about.

With the recent movement and statements made by big fashion houses in New York, Paris and Milan in supporting ethical fashion, Dubai is still adapting and transitioning to become more conscious in consuming sustainable fashion.

Araceli Gallego, Founder, and CEO of Goshopia, Dubai’s first-ever sustainable fashion e-marketplace platform, commented, “Our fashion proposals are focused on the environment and the people. This means prioritizing environmental-friendly practices throughout production and making a product that has a lower impact on the environment, that is stylish and will last a lifetime. We want our customers to be happy and proud of what they wear. Every product has a beautiful story behind it."

There are many different ways to achieve it. Using natural materials, such as organic, pesticide-free, cotton, linen, hemp, etc. or through sustainable practices that reduce water or energy consumption and minimizes waste production, such as slow fashion.

As consumers, we also need to consider that how we treat our clothes have a direct impact on the environment. For example, wash only when needed, try to use cold water if possible and donate instead of just toss the clothes to the bin.

While ethical fashion may not solve all of our problems with unsafe chemicals, water shortages, energy consumption, or overflowing landfills, it allows you to reduce your impact on the environment and invest in a safer, more sustainable future.

Goshopia brings together fashion designers and brands that have a more sustainable and ethical approach in their mindset and follow at least one of the brands 3 S’s: Slow fashion, Sustainability, and Social Responsibility.

Goshopia aims to increase the number of consumers shopping consciously and conveying the message that you can dress for any occasion in a stylish and more sustainable way.

Last month, Goshopia received an award from XPEDITION Annual Gala Awards as the best e-commerce brand in the UAE and also launched its first-ever fashion show at Burjuman Center as part of XPEDITION Fashion Night with Miss Universe Catriona Gray.

From Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, Goshopia will be part of Fashion Forward Dubai’s The Green Room: a sustainable and ethical fashion pop up, an initiative which includes pop up, talks, workshops, styling sessions and panel discussions aimed at promoting sustainable and ethical practices in the fashion industry.
