PANDUIT™ has announced the launch of version 3.0 of their premier physical layer network management tool, PanView™. Through its innovative combination of software, scanners and patch panel technology, PanView™ provides real-time monitoring of physical layer copper and fibre connectivity for effective network management.
Version 3.0 is loaded with enhanced features such as full web-based management capabilities, so the entire physical layer can be managed from any location; and a timesaving built-in switch support generator, which recognises known switch support systems and automatically configures PanView™ to integrate them. New integrated CAD support means the PanView™ system now provides a graphical representation of network devices in their actual location. Furthermore, version 3.0 also features VoIP support which accurately tracks Cisco1 VoIP phones connected to the same switch port as other network devices, thus providing complete end-to-end link information – a feature previously unavailable from a physical layer management system.
Why PanView™? - Key Features & Benefits: -
* Reduced Downtime – With a 100% accurate, real-time picture of the physical layer, time spent troubleshooting, planning and implementing Moves Adds and Changes (MAC’s) is significantly reduced, resulting in increased productivity, less downtime, and a demonstrable, measurable Return On Investment. For Service Providers in particular, reduced downtime means reduced Service Level Agreement (SLA) penalties.
* Security– Through its continuous scanning process, all connections are monitored 24 hours a day. Any changes to patch fields are instantaneously detected triggering an alert message.
* Improved asset management– PanView™ monitors the location and usage of all network equipment to optimise resources, avoid unnecessary hardware purchases and reduce Total Cost of network Ownership.
* Greater IT staff efficiency– With a report generator that measures key performance indicators, PanView™ allows IT managers to log and analyse their workflow and automate their business processes; MAC’s can be electronically planned and assigned so technicians can complete the task, even if located remotely. Furthermore, PanView™ makes the MAC’s themselves foolproof, resulting in significant savings, both in cost and time.
In short, by automating and streamlining physical layer network management duties, PanView™ frees up IT managers’ time spent firefighting, allowing them to focus on system development, thus increasing staff productivity. PanView’s constant, real time monitoring also ensures the network is Future Ready to embrace new infrastructure topology, plus, in reducing downtime, PanView™ delivers a clear and conclusive ROI.
