Parisian designer Georges Mak's latest collection was showed on Saturday during the professional week of Creations 2007, the fashion show off. The fashion event being held at BurJuman as part of DSF's Fashion Festival brings the collections of world's top designers to be viewed by Dubai residents and DSF visitors. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Creations 2007 has impressed the viewers and fashion aficionados in Dubai ever since it's inauguration this year on January 18.
Georges Mak's collection comprised trendy wear for the young from his label Bony Paris. It also included club wear using funky designs and contemporary cuts. While white remained the predominant colour of the evening, the designer's palate also comprised of daring shades and pretty pastels. Bright colours were used sparingly but effectively on satin silks and printed chiffons. The graceful fabrics carried the designs wonderfully well emphasising the artist's artful expertise in lending his imagination to creating trendy new looks.
The embellishments used such as lace and sequins looked fine and added value and appeal to the garments. The asymmetric hems and flowy short skirts were carried off with panache. Short pants were presented with style and the designs displayed a liberal use of knotting and crinkled effect on the fabrics with smoking.
The second part of the show presented knee and ankle length dresses proving on the big time arrival of these outfits. The accessories used were mainly long bead chains, big belts and trendy bags that complemented the outfits perfectly.
The remaining days of Creations 2007 which concludes on February 1, 2007 will showcase designs of Polish designer Dominika Alicia Nowak on Tuesday, Lebanese designer Tarek Khairalla on Tarek Kheirallah and Indian designer Nisha Sagar on the concluding day. There's much to look out for at this promising fashion shows.
The combined edition of DSF 2006-2007 began on December 20, 2006 and concludes on February 2, 2007. This last week of DSF offers family fun, entertainment, shopping and winning frenzy to all visitors.
