Muscat, June 02, 2013: At the recently conducted annual MFTBC Regional Customer Meet, loyal Mitsubishi FUSO customers were presented with a memento in appreciation of their continued patronage.

The guests included customers who own Mitsubishi FUSO vehicles and some potential new customers from various segments in Oman. The guest list also included various Ministry and Government officials and decision makers. Over the course of the event, General Automotive Company presented its most loyal customers with a memento as a gesture of gratitude for their continued patronage over the years.

The event, which was held at the Muscat Intercontinental Hotel, was of particular significance this year. Not only does 2013 mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary Canter light duty truck, it is also the 80th anniversary of the Fuso brand. In commemoration of this momentous occasion, General Automotive Company also showcased the newly launched Narrow Cab Canter at the event.

Mark Tomlinson, general manager of General Automotive Company said at the event: "the success of Canter and the FUSO brand in Oman has been made possible, thanks to the deep commitment from our customers towards our vehicles and the tireless dedication of our staff towards fulfilling their needs and requirements."

The Fuso brand name first appeared in 1932 in conjunction with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' first commercial bus - the B46. Then in 1963, the first 'Canter' - the T720 was introduced to the market. The Mitsubishi Fuso Canter light-duty truck has since grown to become Fuso's best-selling vehicle of all time and to this day, maintains its excellent reputation as one of the most popular commercial vehicles of all time.

Today, the Canter is also one of Oman's leading Light Duty Trucks, whose popularity is matched only by its capabilities. The new narrow-body variant is no different from its larger sized siblings, and offers the same performance and reliability that you would expect from any Canter vehicle. In addition, it is an affordable yet versatile truck, perfectly suited to handle the narrow confines of any city, where the smaller sized cabin allows for easy navigation and a smaller turning circle. Better still, the Narrow Cab Canter sacrifices little in the way of interior space and retains all the core attributes of its larger bodied counterparts.

"We are truly proud of the success we have enjoyed with FUSO, and in particular the Canter, in the Sultanate. Eighty years of product history is testament for the trust and satisfaction our customers have in this remarkable brand," added Mark.

General Automotive Company (GAC), a part of the Zubair Automotive Group, has been associated with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation from 1973 and has since been the sole dealers for the brand in the Sultanate. 2013 will mark their 40th anniversary with the brand and stands as a testament to the historic relationship the group has with the Japanese automobile giant.
