* Geant La carte' credit card: Get rewarded for everyday shopping

* New Geant La Carte Kiosk manned by HSBC to service cardholders

Dubai, 29 August 2004: Fu-Com International (franchisee holders of Geant Hypermarkets) and HSBC have unveiled Bahrain's first co-branded Hypermarket Visa credit card - Gant La Carte.

Geant La Carte is supported by the Visa network and is accepted in over 22 million retail locations around the world.  Cardholders will collect Gant points for all their purchases worldwide which they can redeem for Gant vouchers.

Cardholders shopping at Geant will receive one Geant Point for every Bahraini Dinar spent, while one Geant Point will be offered for every BHD 4 purchase made using the card at any Visa retail location worldwide. Gant Points can also be collected while making utility bill payments in Bahrain with Geant La Carte.

For every 100 Geant Points accumulated, cardholders can redeem their points for Geant shopping voucher worth BHD 1.  Vouchers are also available in denominations of BD5 and BD10. The Geant Points earned do not have an expiry date and can be accumulated indefinitely. Additionally, both the Primary and Supplementary Gant La Carte cardholders would be able to redeem the Gant Points earned on their accounts.

Jean Marc Le Brun, Group General Manager of Geant Hypermarkets said, "Geant La Carte represents our strategy which focuses on quality service and added-value benefits.  It is a new chapter in Bahrain's retail history and we are proud to launch this unique initiative with the support of our partners HSBC and Visa International.  The card is tailored to offer our discerning customers a wide range of exclusive rewards and loyalty incentives as they make their daily purchases.

"Recognized for our unparalleled shopping experience, Geant has contributed significantly to the local shopping experience here in Bahrain.  We believe that the new co-branded card marks yet another milestone for Gant, helping us add greater value to our customers."

A dedicated kiosk has been specifically set up to service Geant La Carte cardholders. Professional staff manning the kiosk will assist cardholders with card application and redemption of Geant Points. The kiosk, which was publicly inaugurated at the official launch, will be open to customers during the Hypermarket hours (10 AM to 12 midnight, 7 days a week). Cardholders would also enjoy priority services through dedicated payment counters at the Gant Hypermarket.

"The growing popularity of payment cards in the region coupled with increasing sophistication of consumer needs played a crucial part in the development of this new product," said Peter Boland, acting CEO HSBC Bahrain. "We are constantly seeking to add value to our customers and we believe that successful partnership with leading brands is a very effective way of achieving this".

Existing HSBC cardholders as well as new customers can apply for the Gant La Carte at the dedicated Geant La Carte kiosk at the Hypermarket or at any of the three HSBC branches.
