Innovative Voluson E8 enhancements enable clinicians to confidently explore fetal images in early stages
New advances with the LOGIQ S7 and Vivid E9 Cardiac Ultrasound also now available
DUBAI, UAE -This week at Arab Health, GE Healthcare, a unit of the General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is showcasing its broad range of ultrasound technologies, including the innovative Voluson* E8, LOGIQ* S7 and Vivid* E9 ultrasounds, adding to its broad portfolio of solutions already available in hospitals and clinics across the Middle East.
"For several decades GE Healthcare has been a leader in the field of ultrasound with innovative solutions that have elevated this field of diagnostics," said Hisham Youssef, General Manager of ultrasound for GE Healthcare's operations in the Middle East, Africa, Russia & CIS and Turkey & Central Asia. "In recent years, we have observed significant demand for ultrasound technologies in the Middle East which is today one of the fastest growing regions for ultrasound in the world, with significant investments being made by public and private health providers across the region to offer their patients the latest technological advances. At Arab Health 2013, we are proud to announce new features and enhancements that have the potential to further enhance image quality and help support clinicians in enhancing patient care,"
Voluson E8
With new technological enhancements, the Voluson E8 allows clinicians to see fine anatomical details, helping provide the ability to confidently explore fetal images in the early stages, in addition to added automation to help facilitate efficient and reproducible diagnostic exams.
Among its new enhancements, the Voluson E8 now includes:
HDlive* - a second-generation rendering tool that helps provide exceptional anatomical realism, helping increase depth perception to enhance clinical confidence. This imaging capability also helps enable the clinician to achieve a deep understanding of relational anatomy and enrich patient communication.
Volume Speckle Reduction Imaging - helps provide a high level of speckle reduction utilizing volume/voxels versus single slice imaging. It helps improve 3D/4D quality in multi-planar studies and also provides an enhanced smoothing effect on rendered images which helps enhance diagnostic confidence.
Advanced Spatio-Temporal Image Correlation - including STIC M-Mode and SonoVCAD*heart, help improve imaging capabilities for a fetal echo examination.
Advanced STIC plus B-Flow offers an angiographic-like display for visualization of the fetal cardiovascular system.
Youssef added: "GE continues to drive technological advancements working with clinicians to evolve the Voluson product family, helping to make GE Healthcare a leader in women's health ultrasound. With its range of updated clinical applications including volume ultrasound enhancements, image quality enhancements, advanced fetal cardiac assessment technology and innovative women's health tools, we are able to help clinicians detect disease, access detailed information and intervene".
LOGIQ S7
Also new at Arab Health 2013 is the LOGIQ S7 general imaging ultrasound, well equipped for a variety of applications and ready to take on both routine and non-traditional challenges. This mobile, shared-service ultrasound system is designed specifically to provide:
- Exceptional performance to help enhance diagnostic confidence across applications
- User-sensitive design to help increase exam speed, as well as comfort and productivity
- Intuitive tools to help enable high utilization across multiple applications
Youssef explained: "With the growing use of ultrasound, healthcare providers are challenged to image patients of various ages and sizes, and encompass a wide range of clinical areas including abdominal, vascular, cardiac, musculoskeletal, OB/GYN, and small parts imaging. The versatile and lightweight LOGIQ S7 incorporates powerful technologies while enhancing workflow and user experience."
Vivid E9
Also on the booth at Arab Health is the latest Version of Vivid E9 cardiac ultrasound system with 4D transducer probe for transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) which provides innovative tools designed to help improve workflow efficiency through simplified image acquisition, intuitive navigation and advanced, yet easy to use quantification.
While Vivid E9 is currently used most frequently in the echo lab, the availability of the 4D TEE transducer enables the system to be used more often in settings including the cath lab, and the operating room. The TEE transducer will allow clinicians to view detailed images of the heart during assessment/diagnosis performed in the echo lab, and to support invasive surgical procedures in the operating room, as well as image-guided procedures in the cath lab. With the TEE transducer, Vivid E9 can now be leveraged for procedures including mitral valve repair, transcatheter aortic valve repair (TAVR/TAVI), atrial septal defect (ASD) closures and patent foraman ovale (PFO) closures.
The Vivid E9 BT12 also includes several features that are new to cardiovascular ultrasound, and which are designed to enhance 4D imaging and workflow. These include the industry's first configurable TEE transducer, a new tilt and rotate function, and a live "2-Click Crop" tool. Workflow enhancements can also be achieved during mitral valve acquisition with a dedicated MV button and during quantification with a new plug-in tool that has the potential to help decrease assessment time.
