The release of limited edition Alfa Romeo pens created by Montegrappa, Italy's premier luxury pen manufacturer, marked the 100th anniversary celebration of Italian car manufacturer, in UAE on 10/11/10. Legendary racing driver Jean Alessi , ambassador for the Montegrappa brand, graced the special event held at Gargash Motors' Alfa Romeo showroom along Sheikh Zayed Road.
"Gargash Motors are honoured to represent the iconic Italian brand of Alfa Romeo and be part of its historic hundred-year journey. What could be more fitting than to celebrate the Alfa centenary together with Montegrappa, yet another Italian brand that will soon celebrate its own centenary. It is indeed, a momentous occasion, for all the Alfa owners in UAE, and for each one of us here," said Mr. Samir Gargash, Chief Executive Officer of Gargash Motors.
"Alfa Romeo has approached it centenary and Montegrappa is nearing its own. It is thus both fitting and timely that Montegrappa which has been producing superior fountain pens and writing instruments since 1912 has been chosen to produce the centenary pen for Alfa Romeo that was founded in 1910," said Mr. Giuseppe Aquila, Chief Executive Officer of Montegrappa.
Alfa Romeo boasts a history rich in heritage and tradition, reflected in the design and detail of every Alfa created till date. To capture history, a few of the unforgettable models from Alfa Romeo were on display during the event - an Alfa Spider S4 by Pininfarina, an Alfa SZ (Sprint Zagato) and the exclusive Alfa 8C Competizione Alfa.
Montegrappa's elegant set of pens embody the essence of Alfa Romeo with a series 12 different pens (three versions of fountain, ballpoint and roller ball pens and mechanical pens) to celebrate and honour the car manufacturer in each and every design detail.
A total of 1910 pens were crafted: 246 (representing 24th June 1910, the date on which the Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili was founded) celluloid and carbon fibre fountain, ballpoint and roller ball pens; another 246 of each made of celluloid and silver and another 167 of each of the respective mechanical pencils and 25 each of the four series in celluloid and solid 18k gold.
