Dubai, UAE, 12 January 2003 – GAC Logistics, a division of the world’s largest independent shipping and transport services provider GAC Group, today announces the expansion of its logistics services into the Dubai Airport Free Zone, following the signing of two warehouse lease agreements.
The warehouses, each 310-square metre in size, will offer full-fledged storage and logistics facilities, as well as value-added services such as assembly-type operations on site.
Dedicated facility for high value, fast-moving goods
“The Dubai Airport Free Zone serves as a strategic base for GAC to expand our logistics services, says Dag Bore, General Manager, Logistics Division, GAC Dubai.
“We are seeing an increasing number of international and local companies setting up operations in the region, especially those involved in the distribution and sale of high value, fast moving commodities, such as IT hardware and software, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts or machinery components. As these products require fast turn-around, relatively shorter period of storage time, and rapid access to transport via air, we can leverage our new warehouses’ proximity to the Dubai International Airport,” explains Mr Bore.
In addition to the direct handling of cargo import and export through the DNATA airport services, customers using GAC’s new facilities at the Dubai Airport Free Zone will also benefit from quicker administration clearance and inspection processes, thanks to the 24-hour customs services.
New facility complements the GAC Logistics Centre at Jebel Ali Free Zone
The new facility at the Dubai Airport Freezone will further boost GAC’s existing portfolio of services offered at its flagship logistics centre at the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
The GAC Logistics Centre at Jebel Ali offers end-to-end supply chain management solutions, including inbound logistics, warehousing, retail distribution and value added services. Started out as a 8,000m2 storage space, it has expanded six-fold to a 60,000m2 state-of-the-art facility today, housing inventory of more than 60 major corporations from diverse sectors such as retail, FMCG, automotive, and frozen food.
With over 65,000 pallet positions, 108 loading bays and a 300 strong work force, the Logistics Centre is known as the biggest and most advanced third party warehouse facility in the Middle East.
