Industry Giants to Offer IT Decision Makers Virtualized Data Center Blueprint
Kuwait, 15 June 2006 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European I.T. manufacturer, held the penultimate leg of an eight country Middle East Virtualization tour with an event that was attended by more than 70 enterprise customers in Kuwait.
Furthering a joint commitment to deliver best of breed, end-to-end virtualization technologies to enterprises, the I.T. giant has partnered with AMD and Network Appliances, to offer a blueprint for a virtualized data centre.
"The co-operation of three major players is a significant step in the regional development and education of the virtualization concept," said Stephane Rejasse, General Manager - Middle East, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "This event gave I.T. managers an overview of the Dynamic Data Center and presented them with results of a study that validated positive ROI for companies involved in virtualization projects."
Virtualization is an umbrella term for a number of technologies that divide computer resources into multiple independent working parts. The event focused in particular on how companies can make better use of I.T. resources if they separate applications and data from dedicated servers, and instead, pool and share resources as needed. In this way, I.T. managers can move resources around much more easily and take advantage of a much higher level of hardware resource capacity.
"If I.T. infrastructures are to react more dynamically, they need to be organized in a completely flexible manner - from the processor via the server right down to memory," said Rajesh Deepchandani, Product Marketing Manager - Large Enterprise, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "AMD, Network Appliances and Fujitsu Siemens Computers are among the first I.T. manufacturers to jointly approach the subject of virtualization on all these levels in the Middle East".
Through showcasing proven solutions that are already implemented at customers today, I.T. decision makers will be able to obtain a blueprint approach to implement virtualization for a Dynamic Data Center.
"Virtualization is a very hot topic. Customers want dynamic I.T. solutions that also offer performance with flexibility and that can work today. Fujitsu Siemens Computers and our partners have already proven we can deliver on that promise," said Deepchandani. "Virtualization is one of the three core principles within our Dynamic Data Center which enables on-demand computing to become a reality. This concept provides I.T. directors with solutions that have the performance and flexibility they require."
Fujitsu Siemens Computers were also discussing two of their major dynamic I.T. solutions, FlexFrame for Oracle and FlexFrame for SAP, at the event. Having partnered with these two major industry ERP players, Fujitsu Siemens Computers can offer a solution that optimises operation of SAP and Oracle in a virtualized environment. This offers High Availability and on-demand capabilities meaning customers can avoid the system-integration costs associated with deploying ISV-specific solutions.
"I.T. Directors need infrastructures that enable them directly to address the needs of their business. FlexFrame for Oracle and Flexframe for SAP does just this and provides them with an answer that helps them on two fronts - it brings down costs and increases efficiency immediately and it fits into existing environments", added Deepchandani.
The Virtualization Road Show is travelling to eight countries in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait and Pakistan). At the event, attendees gain an insight into virtualized resource pools, learn about best-practice solutions on all levels and profit from the first-hand knowledge of international IT experts.

About the Dynamic Data Center
The Dynamic Data Center (DDC) is the Fujitsu Siemens Computers' strategy for a new-generation hardware and software architecture that focuses on end-user services and service level agreements (SLAs) which enables on-demand computing to become a reality. With the DDC Fujitsu Siemens Computers enables companies to move from system-related tier-IT structures into service-oriented architectures. This means for example that computers and database resources can be dynamically aligned to applications and the result is increased flexibility and reliability, as well as considerable improvement in the cost-effectiveness of the IT infrastructure.
