The first joint European EMC Velocity2 Signature Solution Center provides customers with information on virtualized IT infrastructure solutions for SAP application-based environments and help in migrating systems

Munich, Germany, January 3, 2007 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers will open Europe's first EMC Velocity Signature Solution Center in early 2008. The Solution Center in Walldorf, Germany, which is also supported by AMD and Cisco, is the first Velocity Center for SAP® application-based solutions in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Its main foci are the dynamic infrastructure solution FlexFrame™ for SAP® and the SAP NetWeaver® Business Intelligence Accelerator (SAP NetWeaver BI Accelerator) from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, running on PRIMERGY servers and enabling customers to accelerate the analysis of large BI (business intelligence) data sets and the NetWorker Backup Suite backup and recovery solution. By combining professional services from Fujitsu Siemens Computers and IT infrastructure products from both EMC and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, users benefit from integrated solutions for sophisticated SAP applications, combining features such as high performance, availability and economy. In the new Solution Center, customers have an opportunity to test and assess their systems in real-life environments.

"Our new Solution Center is convincing proof of our high competence in the implementation of service-oriented IT infrastructures in the SAP solution-based environment," says Dr. Bernd Kosch, Vice President Alliances at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "This competence is firmly based on our long years of experience and successful strategic partnerships with EMC and SAP AG. "The application scenarios for various SAP application-based environments mean that visitors can discover the advantages of dynamic IT infrastructures. We also offer the opportunity of easy migration to the dynamic IT solutions we have developed together with EMC and SAP. After all, the Center will not only showcase solutions but also run scenarios that replicate our customers' environments."

From Information to Solution Development

In addition to live and remote demonstrations, the Fujitsu Siemens Computers Velocity Signature Solution Center in Walldorf will also offer concrete support in the planning and implementation of migration projects. Comparison and performance tests in real-life environments, along with actual proof of execution provide mid- and large-sized companies with a solid basis for decision-making. Seminars and workshops as well as training and certification programs complement the Solution Center's value proposition.

Willem Hendrickx, EMEA Vice President, Channel and Mid-Market at EMC, comments: "We have created the EMC Velocity Signature Solution Center program to provide such important partners as Fujitsu Siemens Computers with tools they can use to demonstrate integrated complete solutions in live environments."

Dr. Bernd Heinrichs, Director Field Market Development at Cisco Deutschland, says: "The Solution Center also shows companies that the direct integration of SAP applications in an intelligent Cisco IP network can make them more agile and more flexible; they can react faster to market opportunities and risks and are more able than ever to meet compliance requirements."

Application Scenarios

Model application scenarios illustrate how the Fujitsu Siemens Computers and EMC components work together in integrated solutions, underlining, for example, how the FlexFrame for SAP solution is able to automatically add instances within a server pool in a dynamic IT infrastructure and how SAP applications are rebooted on a server. Along with Linux or Solaris operating systems, SAP software is stored on and accessed from a centralized EMC storage repository. The SAP NetWeaver BI Accelerator running on servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers effectively illustrates how it increases the flexibility and speed at which large BI data sets are analyzed, in a solution that combines ideally matched building blocks from SAP, EMC and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, supported by a full range of professional services. Information is also available on archiving solutions as well as the application and configuration options offered by VMware server virtualization technology. Finally, the Solution Center also presents customers with the chance to test backup scenarios using the NetWorker Backup Suite: an EMC solution to which Fujitsu Siemens Computers has added a number of SAP solution-specific modules.
