Vibe announces Third Life Festival: Lauren Hill, Karl Wolf,

Danny Neville & DJ Bliss Live in Concert, Thursday July 5

UAE, Dubai- 11th June 2007- The multi-platinum and Grammy award-winning recording artist, Ms Lauryn Hill, is set to light up the third Life Music Festival event next month with a blazing set that will bring rap, R&B and unplugged hot hits together into a single performance.  In association with Hummer, Sony Ericsson and supported by Done Entertainment, Vibe, the event management agency, will also present Karl Wolf, Danny Neville & DJ Bliss at the festival.  The concert will take place on Thursday 5th July at the MPV - the indoor Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah. 

"Lauryn Hill's music is undoubtedly compelling entertainment, but she also has a solid, serious message behind her music that will bring depth to Life," said Yassin Matbouly, managing director of Vibe Middle East. "The Festival has built up a tremendous following and delivered some of the most exciting acts to hit Dubai this year: we are expecting a fast sell out because Lauren Hill would normally draw a 15,000 to 20,000 crowd, but this indoor venue only accommodates 7,000. We think this concert will sell out in no time."

A former member of The Fugees, Lauryn Hill is a multi-talented artist who is known to be one of the few artists in the industry who can both sing and rap skillfully with a dominant and respected presence in both styles.  Hill's record is bestowed by over thirty awards including eight Grammy awards and three World best selling Music Awards.  Her successful career life started in 1993 when she starred with Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act2 and was recognized as an extremely talented musician.

In 1996, The Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" added a Grammy award for R&B category to Ms. Hill's awards record. Her solo career life took off two years later with the release of 'The Miseducation' of Ms Lauryn Hill, an album that marked Ms Lauryn's title with 4 major awards: Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album, setting a new record for a woman recording artist.

Three years later, the highly controversial artist released her second album MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 where she surprised her fans with a new singing style as she focused more on the lyrics and the messages she wanted to convey rather than the music itself. In her own words, Hill described the new style as a retirement from fantasy when she said: "Fantasy is what people want, but reality is what they need. I've just retired from the fantasy part."

Ms Lauryn Hill has teamed up with big stars in the music industry such as John Legend on the Grammy nominated remix "So High", and Bob Marley on the breathtaking album Chant Down Babylon.

The Life Music Festival doors will open at 7pm. The organisers request that attendees do not drive and use taxis for a safer journey.  

Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 14th of June at 10am

Tickets are priced at AED 190 for Regular, AED 250 for grandstand seating, AED 295 for front of stage and 320 VIP lounge before June 30th and AED 210 for regular, AED 280 for grandstand seating, AED 325 for front of stage and 395 for VIP lounge tickets from the 30th of June onwards.
