Dubai - UAE, January 6, 2011 - flydubai, Dubai's first low cost airline, has started the year as it ended the last, with the announcement of a new service to Bangladesh. Dhaka will become the airline's 32nd destination when flights to the Bangladeshi capital begin on Monday, February 14.

flydubai's announcement of the service to Dhaka means passengers will be able to select direct low cost flights from Dubai to two of Bangladesh's most important cities.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO, flydubai, said: "2010 was a hugely eventful and significant year for flydubai, and was capped off by the announcement of our service to Chittagong, which will commence on January 17. I am very pleased that the addition of Dhaka to our route network is our first announcement of 2011 - a year that is set to be even busier than 2010.

"There is a large Bangladeshi population living and working in the UAE, and I'm confident that the addition of flydubai's flights to the capital will be popular with this community, as it will provide opportunities for them to travel home more often."

The city of Dhaka is established as both the political and cultural hub of Bangladesh, and is located on the Buriganga River. Bangladesh mostly shares its borders with India; with Bay of Bengal to its south and Myanmar to its south east. The country also sits on the confluence of the Brahmaputra, Ganges and Meghna rivers, with immensely fertile land, making agriculture the largest sector of the country's economy.

Flights to Dhaka from Dubai will operate four times per week from February 14, 2011. Flight FZ 583 will leave Dubai at 1340hrs, arriving in Dhaka at 2015hrs local time. Flight FZ 584 will depart from Dhaka at 2115hrs, landing in Dubai at 0100hrs.

A one-way fare to Dhaka from Dubai will cost from AED460, including one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg plus one small laptop bag or hand bag. Flights from Dhaka to Dubai start from USD 200.

Flights for Dhaka are available for purchase from January 6 on the website (www.flydubai.com), call centre +9714 3010800 and through travel partners.

flydubai has a simple model where customers only pay for services they want to receive. The price of the flight includes all taxes and one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg plus one small laptop bag or hand bag per passenger.

flydubai operates from a modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
