International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised industrial development and investment company Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) on its joint venture agreement with Midal Cables to establish a US$100m aluminium rod and conductor plant.
Construction of the aluminium plant will begin in the first quarter of 2010 at Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone in Taweelah, Abu Dhabi. The state-of-the-art plant will produce 150,000 tons per annum of aluminium products, including aluminium rod and aluminium electrical overhead conductors, to serve as feedstock to further Abu Dhabi's downstream industries and to be exported internationally.
Freshfields' team in Abu Dhabi was led by partner Charles July, who heads the firm's Abu Dhabi office, and senior associate William Breeze.
