Dubai, April 5, 2006 -- A free lecture on 'food safety and healthy food' will be conducted at the Hor Al Anz district medical center in Dubai on Wednesday (April 11) in commemoration of World Health Day.

The lecture will be conducted from 10 am to 12 noon and is open to the public. A health fair will also be held at the center's premises which will be participated in by medical practitioners and healthcare companies.

According to Samah Manzalawi, Novartis Consumer Health brand manager for Benefiber, they are supporting the activity of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to help realize this year's theme which is 'Invest in Health, Build a Safer Future.'

World Health Day is actually held every 7th of April worldwide, but it will be celebrated in the UAE during the working week.

Ms. Samah added that they are also supporting the MOH's exhibition and information booth at Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah from April 11 and 12 wherein local health staff and medical experts will be explaining to the public the importance of healthy food.

"Fruits, vegetables, whole-grain and fortified foods, beans and legumes are good sources of both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Experts recommend including at least five servings of fruits and vegetables and choosing 6 - 11 servings of breads, cereals, rice and pasta each day. And when you increase fiber, always remember to drink more beverages to keep the fiber moving through your digestive tract," Ms. Samah further explained.

Benefiber is a 100% natural fibre supplement that gently regulates bowel movement and helps maintain healthy digestion. It's available as ready-to-drink sachets with a delicious green apple flavour, or as a taste-free, grit-free powder that can be added to any food or beverage (excluding carbonated soft drinks) without changing its taste or texture.
