Exclusive Foresight falcon made with CRYSTALLIZED - Swarovski Elements

Unique and valuable piece of art covered in over 95,000 crystal elements

Avid initial interest from Dubai-based and international collectors

The falcon has no eyes to symbolise loss of vision

All proceeds from gala auction in May go to Foresight - to find cures for blindness

An exclusive look at a unique and valuable piece of art -the Foresight Falcon - a falcon encrusted in 95,000 Swarovski Elements.  The Foresight Falcon made with CRYSTALLIZED - Swarovski Elements will be auctioned in May, by Christies Auction house, as part of the Flight Of Falcons public art celebration and all proceeds will go to Foresight, to help find a cure for blindness.  The sparkling crystals are in many shades of orange which is the colour adopted by Foresight and their chairwoman Katy Newitt who is severely visually impaired. It is the last colour that Katy can differentiate and stands for strength and endurance.

The Foresight Falcon made with CRYSTALLIZED - Swarovski Elements has been created by international award winning jewellery designer, Priya Chellani.  It took over 3 months to apply over 95,000 crystal elements by hand.  "I have loved being involved in this artistically exciting and worthwhile project" said Priya.  " Swarovski Elements with their unique brilliance were the perfect material for Katy, even though she has tunnel and cloudy vision which meant that Katy could get a good impression of what the falcon looks like, even though she has tunnel and cloudy vision."   "I was moved to tears at my

first viewing of the falcon," said Katy, "and I am so honoured that this wonderful piece of art will also help our mission to restore people's sight."

Swarovski, the world's leading producer of precision-cut crystal, has generously provided all the crystal elements for the Foresight falcon.  "We wanted to support Foresight's worthwhile efforts in a way that would make the biggest and most thought provoking impact," said Werner Baumgartner, Managing Director Swarovski Middle East, "we were particularly moved by the symbolism of the design; the eyes of the falcon are blank but the rest of the bird shines."

The falcon is too precious to be displayed on the streets of Dubai but the public is urged to come and view this glittering masterpiece for themselves when it goes on viewing at some of the exclusive venues in Dubai in preparation of the auction.

For more than a hundred years Swarovski, the Austrian family company based in Wattens in the Tyrol, has been the world's leading brand for cut crystal. Crystal jewellery stones and crystalline semi-finished goods for the fashion, jewellery and lighting industries are as much a part of the company's product range as gift articles, home accessories, and collectibles fashioned from faceted crystal. Swarovski's artistic and design abilities are evident in Daniel Swarovski Paris and Swarovski Jewellery, the company's accessory and jewellery ranges. Since 1995 visitors have been able to enjoy the ultimate crystal experience at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds. The Swarovski group also includes Tyrolit, which produces grinding tools and abrasives, and Swarovski Optik, the company's optics division, with its precision optics for hunting and nature observation. In 2005 Swarovski achieved group sales of Euro 2.14 billion with a total of approximately 17.000 employees.
