In cooperation with Kaspersky and iAXCESS, Umniah signs an agreement to provide total Mobile Security protection to Smartphone, for the first time in Jordan.
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, announces its partnership with Umniah, a leading telecommunication company in Jordan.
This newly launched partnership will see Kaspersky Lab provide Umniah's customers with cellular protection based on Kaspersky Mobile Security 9, a security solution for mobile devices.
"Mobile phones have become a major tool for people to store important information and data alike, such as contacts details, messages, photos, and files. Which in turn made them a target for viruses and hackers, which can be accessed by the Internet, MMS, or Bluetooth. In order to protect our clients and their valuable data, and as part of our continuous thrive for new ways and for new solutions to cater to the growing needs of our subscribers, Uminah decided to provide them with a total security solution to their mobiles" said Emad Maali, Director of Business Segment Operations at Umniah."Thanks to the Kaspersky Mobile Security solution that was customized especially for Umniah, over 1.9 million of our subscribers will now have easy access to a premium quality product from Kaspersky Lab to meet their security requirements and protect them from mobile malware and cybercriminals," he went on to say..
Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 protects smartphones running the popular Symbian and Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems. The product provides protection against all types of malware and network attacks. If a telephone with the Kaspersky Lab solution installed on it is lost or stolen, the owner of the device can block it or determine its location using the Global Positioning System (GPS). The parental control module allows adults to restrict who their children can call and message. In addition, Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 users have the unique benefit of being able to hide any of their personal contacts from prying eyes.
Umniah's customers can take advantage of the Kaspersky Lab security product by opting in to a convenient subscription plan and downloading the solution from the operator's website. A 30-day license is paid for by sending an SMS message to a dedicated premium number. Unless the subscription is cancelled, it is renewed automatically every 30 days without distracting the user.
"In 2009, the share of the worldwide mobile phone market accounted for by the sale of smartphones stood at 14.2%, and according to Gartner, a respected technology research company, it is expected that this growth will continue up to 18.6%. Significant reductions in the cost of the mobile Internet has made it more accessible to the wider public and lots of mobile devices are now connected to the Worldwide Web. In practice, this means cybercriminals have yet more resources to exploit," said Tarek Kuzbari, Managing Director, Kaspersky Lab, Middle East, who represented the company at the signing ceremony with Umniah.
"Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 will protect Umniah's network from mobile threats, helping improve the quality of service and hence increase customer loyalty", continued Tarek Kuzbari.
"This agreement with Umniah maintains Kaspersky Lab as the sector's fastest growing major in the Middle East region. KMS is a leading product in the field providing users complete protection from different types of threats such as viruses, spam and physical theft of handset," he added.
"With the expanding and the increasing demand for the mobile data services, it is essential to have protection on customer's handsets as market trend is growing towards growth in handhelds and pocket PC. This partnership is aimed to offer Umniah customers the finest product to encounter the most precarious threats, also to offer personal protection on customer data and privacy"
Said Adnan Abu Sharar, Managing Director at iAXCESS, regional distributer for Kaspersky Lab products in the Middle East.
