Finance professionals working in Oman celebrated a major landmark in their careers by becoming members of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
More than 20 people in Oman had the honour of receiving their new ACCA membership certificates personally from H.E. Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Finance. Their success and hard work was celebrated at the prestigious ceremony held at the Intercontinental in Muscat on March 16, 2016.
Lindsay Degouve de Nunques, Head of ACCA Middle East, opened the event, which also included an introduction from Mr Mr Ahmed Al Zakwany, CFO of Oman LNG who were the event sponsors. Oman LNG is an ACCA Platinum approved employer for trainee and professional development; the highest global accreditation from ACCA which recognises their outstanding support for ACCA students and Members that work with them.
The audience heard about the importance of building professional accountancy skills, particularly the pool of professionally qualified Omani's to support the long term business and economic prosperity of the country.
Mr Maqbool Al Lawati, chair of ACCA's Member Advisory Committee in Oman said, "ACCA membership demonstrates to employers and the wider community that finance professionals have met the demanding standards set by ACCA and that they are fully equipped to make a major contribution to the ongoing success of the Oman economy."
The keynote presentation of the evening was by Mr Ashok Hariharan, Global Head of Tax, MENASA region at KPMG in Oman. He gave an in depth analysis of the five year plan that will take Oman to 2020. Commenting on the prudent forecasts he gave rise to great optimism within the room regarding Oman's long term plans.
