FileNet Corporation, a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, has unveiled its regional expansion strategy targeting governmental and semi governmental sectors in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The benefits delivered by ECM and Business Process Management (BPM) solutions were highlighted at a seminar organised recently by FileNet and EBLA Computer Consultancy, in Doha, Qatar, that was attended by IT decision-makers, heads of government organisations, officials from eGovernment projects and business managers from the GCC Countries.

Speaking at the event, Giancarlo Sassi, PreSale Director, FileNet, explained how ECM was being used effectively by governments, semi-government organisations and business enterprises in the region, and globally, in order to streamline their business processes and increase productivity.

"Today's organisations need solutions that will help them manage and leverage their most valuable asset, information, and streamline key business processes in order to gain control and adapt quickly to new market conditions," said Sassi.

Compliance of any type, as is required by local laws and industry regulations, also represents a boost for ECM solutions as it obliges organisations to keep track of business sensitive content.

"We've just released two products, eMail Manager and Records Manager, that can help companies achieve the necessary compliance while, at the same time, managing content for daily business activities," Added Sassi.

"As the world's single largest standalone ECM service provider, FileNet has created solutions that help automate, integrate and optimise business processes within a single scaleable framework. Through this seminar we were able to demonstrate the unequivocal benefits of our solutions for our potential customers, especially those from the government sector."

Sassi also demonstrated how ECM solutions could enable the region's e-governments to achieve their goals and meet challenges in the areas of transformation of business processes, customer focus and authentication and security.

FileNet highlighted the experiences of high profile customers in the use of FileNet ECM solutions, including the National Assembly of Wales, the Italian National Institute for Insurance Against Industrial Injuries, Greece's National Documentation Centre and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of the Interior.

"ECM solutions have become the backbone of streamlining businesses processes as it automates and optimises core business practice, resulting in higher return on investments and the increased efficiency and agility of an organisation," said Hilal Arnaoot, Managing Director, EBLA Computer Consultancy.

"In the GCC region, organisations are developing dually to provide greater customer service and reliability of fully scalable IT systems. ECM is therefore central to their requirements as it offers the right tools for them to reap the benefits of the digital domain and achieve service excellence."

Mahmood Al Bastaki, Acting Director, eServices, Dubai eGovernment, who also participated in the one day seminar and spoke on 'eGovernment: How to deliver effective solutions', described ECM as an indispensable tool for defining workflows, eliminating non value-added task and reducing dependence on third party knowledge consultants.

Commenting on the conference, Al Bastaki said, "The importance of ECM solutions in large organisations cannot be under estimated. Forum's like these play a central part in highlighting the benefits of ECM solutions as it helps to educate institutions and organisations on the advantages of the technology and the methods to derive greater organisational efficiency."
