Idea supported by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon
An honouring, motivational and competitive award that deals with achievements of businesswomen and professionals
Highlights outstanding models and potential capacities, and promotes overall development
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - January 31, 2012: After eight years of success, excellence, innovation and achievement, the Emirates Women Award (EWA) has been able to move beyond the UAE borders to identify successful businesswomen and professionals. This will allow Lebanon to recognise the success to date and provide inspiration for the next generation in the Arab world. The new award, namely, the Lebanon Outstanding Women Award or LOWA, strives to pay attention to businesswomen's professional lives, stimulate their performance and take a firm look at their future with regarding innovation, diligence and excellence at the level of business. EWA is held every year since 2003 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman of Emirates Group and Honorary Patron of Dubai Quality Group (DQG).
The Award received another certificate of success when the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon (FCCIAL), in collaboration with DQG and organized by Etisal Event Management, declared its support for the launch of the LOWA. LOWA is an honouring, motivational and competitive award that deals with achievements of businesswomen and professionals, and seeks to improve their professional capabilities in various ways, methods and initiatives, which ideas are taken from the EWA.
LOWA was launched during a press conference that took place on 27 January at the FCCIAL premises in Beirut, Lebanon. The event was held in the presence of Mr. Saleh Ahmed Janeeh, Chairman of DQG; Mr. Mohammad Lamaa, Vice-President of FCCIAL; Ms. Judith Barton, The Development Partnership: Chief Assessor of the Award; Ms. Laila Faridoon, Board Member in DQG and Mrs. Nada Jaber, Managing Director of Etisal.
LOWA is a first-of-its-kind award in Lebanon, after EWA proved a huge success in the UAE, particularly in terms of stimulating the professional performance of businesswomen and taking their ambitions to new horizons. It is a motivational initiative with lofty goals; since it is not limited to "honouring" only, but also it rises to the fields of guidance, awareness-raising and development.
The nascent Lebanon Outstanding Women Award seeks to recognize businesswomen and professionals who excelled in the areas of their different specialties, celebrate their achievements, and looks to urge promising women to innovate and excel, with the hope of unearthing more potential, promoting effective achievements of businesswomen, and upholding the contributions of half of society in promoting business bodies and organizations of the Republic of Lebanon.
Mr. Saleh Janeeh expressed his pride in EWA's achievements throughout its long journey, which he said contributed actively in the promotion of quality entrepreneurship, and stimulated women in the aspects of competitiveness and stability in the market. He pointed out that the Award, which had advantages and objectives that are absolute fits for the UAE business sector, has many benefits and advantages as it moves to Lebanon after its UAE innings. This will give an impetus and provide a key motive in the success and achievement of the stated objectives of the Award in Lebanon, he added.
He hoped Lebanese businesswomen who closely attend to their professional lives, would benefit from what the Award has to offer, including its motivational and competitive spirit. He said it will help them take their businesses to a secure level of confidence, success and excellence. "EWA will continue to support all improvement and quality initiatives in performance and business within the UAE, the region and the Arab world, and is eager to support the success of the Lebanon Outstanding Women Award with all of its possibilities, means and aims," he concluded.
Mr. Mohammad Lamaa thanked Dubai Quality Group represented by its Chairman Mr. Saleh Janee, for its cooperation and transfer of a unique experience to Lebanon. He also expressed his admiration for the terms and conditions of the new Award that ensures its integrity and go to achieve the noble objectives following its launch. He wished the UAE more success, progress and prosperity.
During the press conference, the LOWA official website was launched. Mrs. Nada Jaber gave a detailed presentation about the Award, including its importance, the laws and terms of nominations and the benefits that can be earned by candidates. She pointed out it was possible to obtain the full information by visiting the Award's website at www.lebanonaward.com.
It is worth mentioning that the Lebanon Outstanding Women Award aims to recognize and honour the peerless contributions of businesswomen and professionals in the Lebanese Republic, to activate their contributions in advancing excellence in the field of business and to highlight outstanding efforts as examples and incentives for more contributions to the economic development process from women. LOWA also aims to recognize the effective role of women and their contribution to the Lebanese society and its future growth, and honours women who excelled in their businesses by outstanding performance in various fields. It underlines the ideals that reveal the potential of Lebanese women.
