Abu Dhabi, August 16, 2008: Etisalat today announced the launch of the latest version of Wireless Mobile USB Modem, E170, which can be connected to the USB port directly. Smaller than the standard PC mouse, the sleek plug and play device offers convenience and ease of access to the laptop users who can access the Internet, anytime and anywhere on the move, across 98% of the populated areas in the UAE.
The latest version of the Etisalat USB modem gives customers speeds of up to 7.2 megabits per second (Mbps) in the downstream and 1.92 mbps in the upstream. Users can also avail the SMS facility through this modem. The USB modem can be used with both laptop and desktop computers with USB ports, enabling true connectivity for the user.
Compatible with all Etisalat SIM cards, this USB modem facilitates wireless Internet access anytime, anywhere. Customers can purchase Etisalat USB modem priced at AED 875 from Etisalat Business Centres and outlets, or from authorized retailers across the country. The Etisalat USB Modem is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac operating systems.
Etisalat currently has over 2 million customers using its 3.5G services, and this new modem will enable a large number of users to redefine how they access the Internet. Etisalat was the first operator in the region to offer 3G services to its customers in 2003, and the first to upgrade its mobile network to support 3.5G (HSPA) in 2005.
Etisalat has different data packages that are suitable for business and individual customers with different levels of data usage. These range from the high-usage package for users of nearly 10GB a month, to a pay-per-use facility for infrequent users.
