Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 11th November 2009 - A compact, new monochrome laser printer from Xerox Corporation brings new productivity and performance that is affordably priced to entry-level printing. The Xerox Phaser™ 3140 personal laser printer produces 18 A4 pages per minute (19 8.5x11-inch ppm) and offers high-quality output, reliable operations and a powerful feature set to make it a strong choice for small businesses, home offices and personal use. The new model is available immediately with an estimated retail price as low as $99.

"The Phaser 3140 provides all-purpose printing at an affordable price," said Dan Smith, General Manager for Integrated Marketing, Xerox, MEA (DMO).  "It raises the bar on what you can expect from an entry-level printer."

The new Phaser has a best-in-class monthly duty cycle of 10,000 prints to handle daily printing chores in business settings. Yet it's well suited for use as a personal printer, with low noise levels and a compact footprint (14.17 x 15.31 inches / 360 x 389 mm) to fit comfortably on a desktop.

The new model's compact size is enabled in part by a fully enclosed paper tray that keeps paper dust-free and provides a best-in-class capacity of 250 sheets, boosting productivity by limiting interruptions to re-load paper. A second multi-purpose tray feeds special sizes and media. First-print-out time is as fast as eight seconds. Image resolution is a crisp 600x600 dots-per-inch and up to 1200x600 with software enhancements for excellent image quality.

The Phaser 3140 offers a powerful set of easy-to-use features. Scaling, reduction/ enlargement and fit-to-page provide image sizing options. Toner-saver mode, power-saver mode, multiple-up printing and "job cancel" can save resources and costs. Manual duplexing, available in Windows systems, reduces paper usage and related costs while boosting productivity. Additional features include watermark printing, manual booklet-making and poster printing (printing sections of images that can be tiled together into a larger piece).

The new model is easy to set up, maintain and operate in Windows, Mac and Linux environments. Connectivity is via a USB 2.0-compabible port. The system has a 150-MHz processor and 8 megabytes of on-board memory and offers a choice of toner cartridges. High-capacity cartridges yield 2,500-pages, and standard-capacity cartridges yield 1,500 pages

The Phaser 3140 is ENERGY STAR® qualified. Its consumables are part of Xerox's Green World Alliance, a worldwide initiative to encourage Xerox customers to recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimizes impact to the environment. The unit comes with a one-year warranty.
