DUBAI, U.A.E., 9th March 2006 - Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, is introducing a second daily non-stop service from Dubai to Zurich, increasing both seat and cargo capacity on the route, effective 29th October this year.
Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, said: "The launch of Emirates' second daily flight to Zurich is in direct response to the increasing demand for our services. Our Zurich route has been an overwhelming success and the increased frequency is testament to that success and for the growing demand for the Emirates product.
"We are delighted to offer our customers the convenience of an optional timing from Dubai to Zurich, which will make it easier for them to meet their travel needs whether they are flying Emirates on business or pleasure."
Emirates has seen month-on-month growth of passengers travelling in both directions on this route. Premium passengers enjoy a host of benefits including access to Emirates lounges and complimentary chauffeur drive to and from the airport.
On the second daily flight the airline will use a 237-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, configured in three classes with 12 seats in First, 42 in Business and 183 in Economy. The new flight will also increase cargo capacity to Zurich, giving customers of Emirates SkyCargo greater flexibility in their operations.
The new flight, EK085 will depart from Dubai at 16.15hrs, arriving in Zurich at 19.45hrs. The return flight, EK086, will depart from Zurich at 21.15hrs, arriving in Dubai at 06.10hrs the next morning.
Emirates already operates one non-stop daily service between Dubai and Zurich; flight EK087 departs from Dubai at 08.45hrs, arriving in Zurich at 12.15hrs. The return flight, EK088, departs from Zurich at 14.45 hrs, arriving in Dubai at 23.40hrs.
The addition of this second non-stop service enables passengers from Zurich to connect onwards to Emirates flights in Dubai and to destinations in Africa, the Indian sub-continent and Asia Pacific. Members of Skywards, Emirates' frequent flyer programme, can earn Skywards Miles when flying in any class between Dubai and Zurich in either direction.
