Umm Al Quwain, UAE; June 2, 2011: Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), conducted an emergency response drill with the Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence and the Umm Al Quwain Police and Ambulance, teams, supporting Civil Defence officials in successfully managing incidents of LPG leaks and fire through a well-executed fire fighting simulation.
The drill was conducted at the Emirates Gas plant in Umm Al Quwain. A credible scenario of an LPG leak was simulated, with Civil Defence officials rushing to the spot, and engaging in all routine operations part of fire rescue operations.
The drill was conducted in the presence of Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence Director Lt. Colonel Hassan Ali Bin Sarm, and supervised by Lt. Colonel Khamees Bu Al Asli. The EMGAS team was co-ordinated by Abdul Latif Al-Mulla, EMGAS Plant Manager - Operations, who served as the 'Incident Commander. Captain Ahmed Salem Bin Shaqouy of the Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence served as the Field Commander.
Director Lt Colonel Hassan Ali Bin Sarm of Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence said: "The drill conducted at Emirates Gas was a perfect example of how we work in unison with various organisations to promote safety in the Emirate. It is important that organisations, especially those involved in critical areas of operation, are prepared and equipped to handle emergency situations. Emirates Gas has demonstrated the highest levels of operational efficiency and follows the correct safety procedures as was evident with the drill."

The emergency drill, routinely carried out by Emirates Gas, is a test of the company's preparedness to respond to emergencies, measure its swiftness, identifies any potential gaps or obstacles, and enables the teams to immediately take corrective measures. The drill also enables the team at Emirates Gas to be prepared for all kinds of emergencies.
