The Emirates Arthritis Foundation invites the people of Media and Internet city, and Knowledge Village to attend the free Chair Yoga Workshop on Thursday 17th December from 13:00-14:30.

Chair Yoga is an established practice to prevent wrong body postures and poor working habits by office workers. Chair Yoga is a scientifically designed program, which involves easy and simple conscious body movements alongside gentle stretching. Yoga moves are practiced sitting in a chair and are coordinated with breathing, which makes the movements more effective and reduces general stiffness and overall stress.

Studies have shown that a large number of people who spend a lot of their time sitting on chair with wrong posture, are more prone to develop joint disorders; suffering from back and neck pain, stiff back and frozen shoulders that can reduce working efficiency and increase overall body stiffness.

Chair Yoga comprises of 65 simple poses including various breathing techniques that can be easily repeated in the office to continue this healthy practice at the office and at home.

"We are hosting this Chair Yoga workshop with the hope that people working in the TECOM and surrounding areas will attend and then start to implement this healthy practice in their regular day," says Katrina Thornley, Patient Director at the Emirates Arthritis Foundation. "This hopefully will mean a reduction of joint disorders due to daily stresses placed on the body in offices, and will also continue to raise awareness and funds for the medical care of Arthritis sufferers in the UAE."
