Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) organized a workshop entitled "Way to Effectiveness". The workshop, which was prepared in cooperation with "Fursan Al Hayat", was run in two phases. A number of Emarat employees participated in the event, which was held at the Seminar Hall in Emarat's Atrium building on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The workshop aimed at improving employee's individual efficiency and effectiveness, assisting individuals in realizing their personal and career goals, and demonstrating the weaknesses and strengths in decisions they make on their own. The dynamic nature of the workshop helped in boosting the level of interactivity between participants.
Within this context, Mr. Abdullah Saleh Sambaij, Human Resources Manager at Emarat, said: "Emarat believes that its success relies primarily on the skills and capabilities of its employees. This is why the corporation has always been striving to provide them with specialized training programs that would enhance their personal capabilities". The objective of the program was to introduce employees to the concept of effective individuals capable of grasping the concept of change and adapting to it, in addition to encourage positive thinking and entice work ethics that would balance individual life as well as work requirements. He added that the organization of this program is in line with corporate vision and development plans in creating distinguished human resources capable of enhancing the levels of their lives internally and outside the borders of the corporation.
On the other hand, Dr. Ali Shorab, Founder and Chairman of "Fursan Al Hayat" said: "Arab companies are beginning to adopt the latest training techniques recognized worldwide. These techniques help in shaping the personality of the individual worker, who is considered to be a vital asset within the corporation."
He indicated that Arab countries have started understanding the importance of human resources only recently. He asserted that organizations must give human development priority and exchange expertise between the private and public sectors in that regards. He pointed out that Arab human resources are as efficient as any other human resources if given the chance and the opportunity.
On another note, Dr. Mohamed Buqefell, Manager, Career Development at Emarat, said: "Our Corporation puts special emphasis on human resources being its most valuable asset for its development plans. These workshops, organized by Dr. Shorab, are part of the corporation's aim to prepare its human resources to face competition not only at a regional level, but international one." This is carried out through the provision of these human resources with the necessary tools to advance their capabilities and ethics in dealing with their colleagues, customers and counterparts, along with the society as a whole.
Although a federal organization, Emarat is run independently on a commercial, profit and loss basis. Its aim is to provide its human resources with job stability, job advancement, and skill enhancement.
