The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education has chosen Edexcel as its education partner for the 'Integrated Technical Education Cluster Project' in El Ameeria, Cairo.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony which took place yesterday in Cairo, Dr. Hani Hilal, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research, emphasised that the aim of the partnership is to meet the industry's needs as well as fill the gap between the knowledge individuals receive through their formal education and that required by employers.
This cluster project, the first of a number of similar projects which will be built throughout Egypt, aims to provide graduates with the highest level of skills, knowledge, and behaviours necessary to meet the industry needs as identified by business owners in Cairo.
In addition to providing advanced educational services, the cluster will also offer training and guidance to individuals in the fields of mechanical, electronic, mechatronic, and automotive engineering.
The project's mission is to educate technicians who are capable of meeting the national skills standards, effectively fulfilling industry needs, upgrading their skills to match industry developments, continuously educating themselves, and performing to high standards across industry fields.
Such requirements form the basis upon which Edexcel's exclusive BTEC qualifications are developed. These work-related qualifications provide a practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background.
Created in collaboration with governments, employers, training providers, professional bodies, and skills councils worldwide, BTECs cover all aspects of the industry for which they have been produced and address the behaviours individuals must possess in order to perform to international standards. As a result, BTEC qualifications always deliver a relevant and rewarding learning experience.

"The result of this project will be a new system of technical training - taking the best aspects of existing Egyptian standards and combining them with the best aspects of international standards to create highly employable Egyptian graduates. These graduates will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to become leaders in their fields of expertise and meet the national and international requirements of the evolving global labour market."
