Abu Dhabi - NIMR Automotive LLC, a light-medium weight military vehicle manufacturer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE and part of the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC), an integrated national defence and services manufacturing platform, has awarded a contract to Ultra Electronics Precision Air & Land Systems (Cheltenham, UK). The contract will providenew scalable Electronic Architecturecommon toNIMR Automotive'sfleet of 4x4 and 6x6 vehicles.
NIMR Automotive's highly mobile strategic and tactical land platforms are equipped with a wide spectrum ofsubsystems to meet many user mission requirements and the new architecture, which is based on open standards, ensures commonality across various different platform types, saving weight, increasing reliability and reducing future integration risks.
NIMR Automotive and Ultra have worked together closelyto ensure the first systems were ready for showcase at IDEX 2015 where the new architecture is fitted in a NIMR soft-skin 4x4. First series deliveries of the systemare expected in early 2015 with a plan to ramp up production through 2015. Ultra is committed to supporting UAE 'localisation', a key goal of NIMR andthe Emirates Defence Industries Company, andintends to establish an in-country production facility located close to NIMRs state-of-the-art production facilities located in the Tawazun Industrial Park.

The integration exercise is still on-going and the new EA is already proving to be a flexible baseline for future NIMR platforms in 2015 and beyond.
Alongside the new EA, NIMR are integrating Battery and Power Management Systems as standard to enhance the capability across all platforms."
