ECCO store in Deira City Centre bears testimony to this as ECCO's best performing store in the Middle East. Due to its popularity, it recently underwent a major refurbishment so that the showcase could live up to the products themselves, and create an inviting and welcoming shopping experience for its multi-national customers.
Describing the new look, Jens Hattab, ECCO's Middle East representative said, "The store is more attractive and appealing to customers. We have introduced a wide open entrance and improved the lighting as well as having the most comfortable and ergonomically designed leather seating which customers will want to take home! We also have a London ash wood floor, reflective of our Scandinavian origins, which is the envy of the mall."
Hattab continued, "ECCO appeals to a wide ranging audience: we cater for an infant's first shoe, to children's, business and dress shoes, play shoes, casual styles and performance footwear for men and women. Definitely something for all the family! The new layout makes the shoes the star attractions and each month the display will focus on a different style - be it formal wear, Goretex, or sandals and casual footwear, depending on the season. Right now for instance, boots and the Goretex ranges are popular, especially with our Russian and East European visitors."
ECCO has introduced what it calls the "Arena Concept" which allows a better use of space for display purposes, and backlit posters in-store to highlight the latest collections, including shoe accessories and the all-important matching handbag for ladies.

Jens Hattab added, "We have already received a positive reaction from our regular and new customers and the concept is equally alluring to younger shoppers. It is also a more pleasant environment for store staff too. The concept store was launched at Mall of the Emirates and we have an ongoing plan to update all our stores in the coming months as well as doubling the number of ECCO shops in the UAE by 2009".
