As part of its ongoing drive for operational efficiency, the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group LLC (ESAG) has adopted leading practices (driver based Enterprise Performance Management) to support business planning.  This automation project led by the in house SAP team has transformed the business planning and budgeting processeswithin the group. It has helped reduce manual errors in data entry and budget consolidation and also provided sophisticated options such as budget simulation, automated review and approval workflow. In addition, the project has introduced additional planning dimensions such as brands, product groups and customer segments.

The SAP team helped provide a visible integrated and consolidated performance of the business which has won them laurels at the recent SAP Quality Awards.The team is the Silver winner for 2013, in the Middle East and North Africa region and the award was presented by top management of SAP MENA on 28th May 2014. The teamwon the distinction for its successful automation of enterprise-wide business planning and budgeting within the Group's 23 different businesses. The project has eased work processes within the group and also assisted various departments in making forecasts, consolidating intra group and external transactions as well as producing MIS reports.

"It has always been our intention to standardize the planning process across our diverse business entities to assist in the effective planning of operating expense, capital expenditure, cash flow and the balance sheet. The SAP Business Planning & Consolidation/Business Object initiative was launched in April 2013 and we are beginning to accrue its operational benefits in 2014. It has helped improve decision-making across the company through an integrated planning, simulation and management reporting process that would provide models specific to our diversified business yet a standardised process and supported by an integrated SAP technology," said Abdulla Al Gurg, Group General Manager.

This ESAG project, which was implemented by SAP partner PwC,utilizes SAP BPC (Business Planning & Consolidation) and SAP BO (Business Objects) applications. The project was delivered in a phased-approach with three distinct work streams: Business Planning; Consolidation and MIS Reporting.

The project also automates financial and managementconsolidationas well as selected management reports. It is also expected to standardise processes and offer informative insights into the business that is supported by an integrated SAP technology;as well as improve analytics and decision-making.
