Abu Dhabi resort announces summer rates

Abu Dhabi, 04 May 2006: Authentic Arabia is closer than expected: Liwa Hotel's desert experience is now available to UAE residents at special weekend rates throughout the summer starting at AED 230.

Hotel manager, Mel Barisic, sees the Liwa area as being the last of a great frontier that few have discovered.  The 66-room resort overlooking the Rub al Khali desert, otherwise known as The Empty Quarter, is surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world.

Barisic said: "Liwa should be on everyone's list of places to experience, and we've made it accessible with our summer rates. We are located in the heart of the real Arabia."

The desert scenery and rugged terrain, coupled with a convenient location along the modern Sila highway, near Mezzaira village, makes Liwa an spectacular change of pace for UAE city residents.

Rates are from AED 230 net for single and AED 260 net for double occupancy per night in a deluxe double room. The summer package price is inclusive of buffet breakfast for two and a 50 per cent discount on food and beverage for children under 12 years.  Children 4 years and younger dine for free.

The rates are valid for UAE residents on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from May 15, 2006 through to September 15, 2006.

At the resort this summer, guests have access to four floodlit tennis courts, a volleyball court, fitness facilities with a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room along with children's pool and playground area.

A selection of restaurants and bars - including an evening terrace for shisha - round out the food and beverage choices. Guest rooms are spacious and comfortable with four-star service on call.

Barisic said: "Combine Liwa Hotel hospitality with the stunning vistas and you have a great escape from the city.  Lounge by the pool or dine in the desert under the stars - we can offer a breathtaking desert experience."

Located in the heart of the Rub al Khali desert, Liwa Hotel is operated by Danat Hotels & Resorts, a division of the National Corporation of Tourism & Hotels based in Abu Dhabi.
