Turns Global Spotlight on Emirati Cuisine and Timeless Hospitality
Country-wide Malls Support Inaugural Event
Dubai-UAE: 15 November, 2013 - The Dubai World Hospitality Championship, a first-of-its-kind gastronomic odyssey in the region, is set to open the doors of UAE's timeless tradition to the world tomorrow (16 November).
Held under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and organised by the Za'abeel Palace Hospitality, the culinary mega event will run at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Sheikh Saeed Halls until 18 November.
DWHC comprises three main competitions: the International Competition, Hospitality Sector Competition, and the Emirati Competition that will serve as the highlight of the Championship. A Heritage Village, which will be open throughout the event, will greet visitors and familiarise them with the authentic traditions of Emirati hospitality.
The event will also feature 45-minute long sessions of live cookery demonstrations conducted by celebrity chefs. The stellar list of international chefs gearing up to dish out their favourite recipes include Silvena Rowe, Sanjeev Kapoor, Nermine Hanno, Martha Yanci, Suzanne Husseini, Osama, Tarek Ibrahim, Marco Pierre and Joe Barza. The master chefs will additionally bring in their personal interpretation to Emirati cuisine by giving an international flavor to all-time favourite national dishes.
The Emirati contingent will be represented by leading chefs Bader Al Awadhi, Musabbeh Al Kaabi and Ali Salem.
In the run up to the event, the organisers have placed booths at various malls to promote the event across the seven emirates. Stands have been set up at the Global Village, Dubai Mall, City Centre Mirdiff, Aswaaq-Al Warqaa, Al Barsha Mall, City Centre Al Fujairah, Carrefour Umm Al Quwain, and Marina Mall Abu Dhabi
The championship committee invites the public to visit www.dwhc.ae/visit to register for a complimentary badge and enter a raffle draw for a chance to win the Lexus LX 570 SUV luxury car. The committee has also set up an entertainment zone at the Abu Dhabi Hall for kids aged 2-10. In an effort to provide additional convenience to families, DWHC organisers have appointed qualified baby-sitters for managing children that need supervision.

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Zaabeel Palace Hospitality organises the Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013, an initiative that seeks to spotlight Dubai amongst the finest multicultural culinary destinations of the world.
In its first edition, the Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013 will take place from 16-18 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event comprise of three main competitions: The International Competition, The Emirati Competition and The Hospitality Sector Competition. The championship will witness12 globally renowned culinary masters, Emirati professional and amateur chefs and 700 chefs vying for top honours through showcasing their creativity, mastery and professionalism in crafting international and Emirati cuisine. More importantly, DWHC is the first and only event of its kind that highlights the rich and intricate traditions of Emirati cuisine and hospitality to the world.
Supported by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), the Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) and Dubai World Trade Centre, the debut edition of the championship will host a culinary museum and a model heritage village displaying traditional handmade products and offering popular Emirati food for sampling. The event will offer free access to the public.
