Dubai's postal history, right from the opening of the first post office in the emirate till date, is on display at a unique exhibition titled 'Dubai Stamps & Postal History' being held until February 12 at the Deira City Centre.

The various stamps of the UAE, which bring out the memories of postal history and culture for visitors, are on display at the exhibition organized by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in cooperation with the Emirates Philatelic Association as part of the department's strong participation in the DSF-2005.

Member of the DTCM Heritage Events Committee, Ms. Sheikha Al Mutawa, said: "This exhibition displays stamps issued and postal marks which have been in use since postal service started in 1909. Visitors to the exhibition will get an idea of Dubai's modern Postal services, which is an important part of its infrastructure."

The exhibits at the 'Dubai Stamps & Postal History' exhibition are of international standard and have also won several medals worldwide.

The exhibition, which opened on February 3, was inaugurated by Mr. Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman of Dubai Cultural Council, Mr. Abdullah Jassim Al Mutairy, Manager Sheikh Saeed House and Mr. Abdullah Al Khoory, Chairman Emirates Philatelic Association.

The department is successfully showcasing the emirate's rich culture and heritage in the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) for the straight 10th year.

Backed by an all-time record AED 4.2 million budget and AED 1 million prizes for public competitions, the DTCM's Calendar of Events for the DSF-2005 is bigger and bigger than the previous editions.

Philips, Patchi, Paris Gallery and IFFCO have extended their inspirational support to the DTCM for this year's DSF.
